USA Network's 'Dirty John: The Betty Broderick Story' brings to television one of the most scandalous of divorces in US history. A story that captured the attention of millions in the late '80s and early '90s, is now back to retell the highlights of the story with Amanda Peet playing the titular role.
Of the several movies and television adaptations that were produced on the Betty Broderick story, each one of them painted her as a psychopath. What Alexandra Cunningham's USA Network series does is tell the story from Betty's perspective, tracing the efforts she invested not only in their marriage but also in her husband Dan (Christian Slater). With one episode in, the show has already got women to take Betty's side. "When I was little and would watch the movie w/ my mawmaw I used to think she was nuts. Many women are downright angry at Dan, his wife Betty supports him through both medical and law school only to be dismissed by him so brutally yet nonchalantly.
"The guy who mentally tortured her gets a pass. She should have never put his ass through college twice. He ordered children and she delivered those too. Dan Broderick was a scumbag and the courts aided and abetted him," tweeted a fan.

The first episode starts with Betty losing control over her marriage as everything she had worked for all her life. Women everywhere are sympathizing with this.
