Did GFriend earn Gaon's Million certificate? NCT finally ‘Millon seller’, BTS and EXO’s Kai on Platinum list
Gaon Chart has released its latest list of million sellers artistes along with K-pop global phenomena who will be getting the latest Platinum certification from the South Korean Music Chart. NCT officially is a member of Gaon Million Seller Charts while EXO’s Kai, BTS are among the few who will be receiving their latest Platinum badge.
For the unversed, the Korean Music Content Industry Association initiated a new certification system from 2018 which recognizes the biggest stars of the Korean Music Industry through their sales, downloads, streaming numbers on Gaon music chart. If an album is sold more than 250,000 copies physically, it receives ‘Platinum’ certification for the album, and crossing 1 million album sales gives an album a “Million” certification. For downloads, 2.5 million downloads will lead to a song getting certified as “Platinum” and 10 million downloads will give the track a “Diamond” certification, Soompi reported.

With the latest certification of Gaon released, NCTizens were ecstatic to see the group getting the Million seller certification for their album ‘RESONANCE Pt. 2’. NCT’s ‘Resonance Part 1’ also got the million-seller certificate in December.

Along with the Millions seller list, here are all the artists who got the ‘Platinum’ certification including Shinee’s Jonghyun’s posthumous solo album ‘Poet | Artist’.

For the streaming Platinum certificate, a group or an artist has to surpass 100 million streams for a track. BTS’ ‘Dynamite’ and Naomi Scott’s ‘Speechless’ received this coveted certification after crossing the mark.
Did GFriend earn official Million Certification from Gaon?
A lot of GFriend fans took it to social media to share that GFriend is a million-seller group. The K-pop group has sold 234,387 copies in 2020 and is yet to get the certification from Gaon which they will be eligible to get once they cross the mark with individual album sales.
