TIOGA, PHILADELPHIA: Dhalsim Jackson-Mayes, a Philadelphia man, was killed in a shooting where he was struck by 70 bullets on the porch of his house. The incident was reported to the police and when they arrived Mayes was found lying down on the porch.

The shooting took place on Saturday, March 11, 2023, just before midnight in the 3400 block of North 16 Street in Tioga's neighborhood, according to Philadelphia police. The incident was reported to the police, and after rushing to the scene they found the victim with multiple gunshot wounds in his body. After the shooting, he was rushed to the Temple University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 11:49 pm, according to a Fox News report.

He was shot while standing on his porch

Police identified the victim as 25-year-old Dhalsim Jackson Mayes on Monday, March 12, 2023. Mayes suffered more than 70 gunshot wounds while standing on the front porch of his home, according to a report by FOX 29.

The Homicide Detectives Division is actively investigating the case, but at present, there is limited information available. Despite scouring the crime scene, no murder weapon has been found, and no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting. Apparently, the police have not released any details about potential suspects and the motive behind the crime.

Homicides are increasing at an alarming rate

Homicides in the city are increasing day by day. But compared to last year, the crime rates are decreasing. As of Sunday, March 12, 2023, public police statistics show there have been 84 homicides in the city, which was 17% less than last year's total of 101 homicides during the same period. There were 516 reported homicides in 2022. Citywide shooting incidents year-to-date stood at 571 as of Sunday, while there have been 294 shooting victims—both statistics are down about 25% during the same time from the previous year, according to the data.
