'Dexter' revived by Showtime as limited series, fans who hated last season say ‘they better redeem sh*t finale’
Showtime announced on October 15 that 'Dexter' is being revived for a 10-episode limited series and actor Michael C Hall will return as the lead in the show. So will he return as the lumberjack? That is something fans are super curious about. The network said, "Dexter is such a special series, both for its millions of fans and for Showtime, as this breakthrough show helped put our network on the map many years ago."
Showtime Entertainment President Gary Levine also added, "We would only revisit this unique character if we could find a creative take that was truly worthy of the brilliant, original series. Well, I am happy to report that Clyde Phillips and Michael C. Hall have found it, and we can't wait to shoot it and show it to the world." The show fetched its lead actor a number of awards including Emmy Awards for five straight years, SAG Awards and a Golden Globe. However, the last season of the show, quite similar to that of 'Game of Thrones', left fans extremely unhappy and many are still mad about what happened. So when news of the same spread on social media, fans had only one question: How bad is the 10-episode limited series going to be?
Some fans were also grateful that the show through this limited series might get a do-over. One fan shared, "F***ing thank you because that finale pissed me off!!" This one fan shared, "@Showtime just announced the return of #Dexter and I can’t pay attention to anything anymore. We are finally getting redemption for that final season!!! My favorite show just made 2020 so much better." One fan was just plain excited to see the man butcher away to infectious music and wrote, "I can’t even believe this is happening. #Dexter was probably the first show I ever binged. The music is infectious, I used to hum it all the time. Can’t wait for the Butcher to return to my screen!" Then there was this fan who put the thought of all fans who hated the finale in a simple line and said, "No fuckin way! They better redeem that SHIT finale."

Then there were a string of fans who were not hopeful about the show and not ready to give this show a chance. One fan wrote, "If Dexter doesn’t put the idiot who wrote the final season on his table I have zero interest." Another fan seemed to share the same sentiment and wrote, "Showtime gives the fans exactly what no one wants: More Dexter. Next they should bring back Homeland and make Brody's daughter the main character." Another fan shared, "Horrible fucking idea theres nothing they can say or do that will make this interesting in the slightest." One fan wanted to remove the existence of the last season entirely and set up a new continuity. This fan shared, "ESTABLISH NEW CONTINUITY THAT ELIMINATES THE FUCKING SERIES FINALE."
