Disgraced ex-Minneapolis cop Derek Chauvin who was convicted for the murder of George Floyd in 2020 and was sentenced to prison for 20 years has now decided to put his Florida vacation home up for sale for a value of $475,000. The walls of the house, however, contains graffitis drawn by the protesters but it did not appear to hurt the property's value. A respected Florida realtor said that the price was in line with market value for the area and size of the property.

Multiple realtor sites report that there's a pending sale for the property, but most of the details are confidential until the sale is finalized. During the protests the house was trashed with BLM (Black Lives Matter) symbols, "Racist" and "I can't breathe" scribbled on the walls and doorstep. A Florida realtor, who did not want his identity to be disclosed said that any buyer who will be willing to buy the house will get to know about the former owner of the property because the name is on the contract.

The realtor said that it depends more on the condition of the market when it comes to the sale of the property and not necessarily upon the reputation of the former owner of the house. "I would say in a different market/time there were more challenges involved with something of that nature," he told The Sun. "The market in Florida these days though, is just too strong for anyone to not take a shot at a home here if they want it." The property which is about 12 miles outside of Orlando, is a three-bedroom, three-bath 1,881-square foot property on Brightland Street in Windermere.

Derek Chauvin sentenced to 20 years in prison

Chauvin was sentenced to 20 years in prison on July 7, after he pleaded guilty in federal court to violating a federal criminal civil rights law in December, last year. He pleaded guilty to intentionally depriving Floyd of his constitutional right to be free from the use of unreasonable force by a police officer and killed Floyd.

The sentence for Chauvin was based upon second-degree murder which he agreed to in the plea documents as he acted willfully and in callous and wanton disregard of the consequences to Floyd's life, according to federal prosecutors. “In no uncertain terms, George Floyd should be alive today,” Assistant Attorney General Kristen Clarke for the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division said in a statement. He further added, "While no amount of prison time can reverse the tragic consequences of Derek Chauvin’s violent actions, we hope that this sentence provides some small measure of justice for the families and communities impacted.”
