Broncos vs Jets: Will Adam Gase be fired if NY lose against Denver? Fans say 'he's gone after the game'

New York Post's Mark Cannizaro opined Gase might not survive to Week 5 if his team is as non-competitive in Week 4 as it’s been in the first three games. The call to fire him is growing on social media as well

The New York Jets have had a miserable start to the 2020 NFL season. They have lost all their games so far and rumors of the coach, Adam Gase being fired is doing the rounds already with multiple media outlets speculating his ouster. The Jets lost 7-36 to the Indianapolis Colts in their last game and as they gear up to face the Denver Broncos, the call to let go of Gase just got louder on social media as well.

New York Post writer Mark Cannizaro in his column wrote: "Gase might not survive to Week 5 if his team is as non-competitive in Week 4 as it’s been in the first three games." He added: "Gase might not survive to coach another week if the Jets look as lifeless and listless as they have in the past three games."

The article also noted that ESPN's NFL pre-game show report said "executives of the Jets at the highest levels’" were paying keen attention to Gase's outing with the side. On the other hand, Twitter had fans who sounded supremely confident he would be let go. Here are a few tweets at the time of writing where fans shared their thoughts on the matter.

"The pick is in. The board says the Jets are favored. Even if they’re playing a high school team with me at QB, you simply MUST bet against them. The players are openly trying to get Adam Gase fired. Can you blame them? He’s GONE after the game.  Broncos (+105) Over 40 (-110)" read another comment.

"The Yankees won tonight in spite of their manager. At least I can watch the funeral of Adam Gase in peace tomorrow #jets #Yankees," one of the fans wrote soon after the Yankees finished the game against the Indians with a win. For one fan, Gase's NFL career looked bleak if he was fired after the Jets dismal outing. "I can’t see Adam Gase getting another job in the #NFL after being fired by the #Jets tonight."

Prior to joining the Jets, Gase was the head coach of the Miami Dolphins from 2016 to 2018. He was hired by the Jets in January 2019 and in his first year as coach, the team finished third in AFC East winning seven of their 16 games. Talking about the rumors, "It’s something I can’t focus on,” Gase said on September 29, according to the New York Post about his job future. "It’s wasted energy for me."

"@BrandonPerna if your Broncos beat they Jets, they will fire Adam Gase. See the Broncos do have something to fight for in the upcoming game," exclaimed one of the fans ahead of the Thursday scrimmage.

The debate though is still on. As per Pro Football Network, NFL draft insiders, Tony Pauline and Benjamin Allbright shared some thoughts. And one of it was that Gase would be safe even if the Jets lost to the Broncos on Thursday. “Remember, it was barely two weeks ago that CEO Christopher Johnson gave Adam Gase support and wanted to see how the season progressed before making any decision,” Pauline said. “Johnson also called Gase a brilliant offensive mind. I know this will disappoint Jets fans but despite many reports and speculation, there are no imminent plans – from what I’ve heard – to fire Gase.”
