Denton PD to probe officers after TikTok video shows they allowed assaulter to leave without charges
DENTON, MARYLAND: The Denton Police Department has launched an investigation regarding the conduct of its officers during an incident on April 7. The incident, which was caught on a video that has since gone viral on TikTok and has gained much attention on social media, occurred at a residential building on S 4th Street. The officers were intervening in a dispute between a landlord and the tenants at the location.
A verbal argument occurred between the owner and residents, during which Christopher Morgan, 38, an ally of the owner, physically assaulted one of the residents and made threats. A bystander recorded the incident on video, which went viral on social media. In the video, Morgan is seen punching a glass screen door in front of Denton Police Department officers, who allowed him to leave the scene without charges, causing outrage.

Chief George Bacorn of the Denton Police Department has requested an inquiry into the officers' attitudes and actions during the incident. In this respect, the chief mentioned:
“Morgan was not arrested at that time due to his highly agitated state and the officers intent to deescalate the situation.”

The video, which is 2 minutes long, shows Morgan, identifiable by his Chosen Sons Motorcycle Club vest, smashing the glass door. At this point, the woman he was arguing with requested that the officials arrest him, but despite his assault and threats to the resident, the officials allowed him to leave the scene.
The incident, which has received widespread online exposure, has pushed the police department to assess its personnel's behavior and take appropriate measures.

Following the incident, officers escorted the residents to the District Court Commissioner, where they obtained a peace order against Morgan for his actions. The police have charged Morgan with second-degree assault and destruction of property. Additionally, senior officials at the Denton Police Department are investigating the matter, as the decision of the officers to not arrest Morgan has been called into question.
