Denise Richards says Charlie Sheen has gone into quarantine away from his daughters because of his HIV
Denise Richards has shed light on why Charlie Sheen is maintaining such a strict quarantine and while staying in touch with their daughters - Sam, 16, and Lola, 14.
According to the American actress and former model, Sheen is taking social distancing very seriously as their children, including adopted seven-year-old Eloise Joni Richards, self-isolate at Denise's Malibu home.
“He really wants for himself to be more isolated to make sure that he stays healthy,” Denise told HollywoodLife during an interview on April 17.
It is a known fact that Charlie has HIV, a diagnosis he made public in 2017. What's more? He also suffered a stroke nearly a decade prior to the revelation. And while the CDC hasn't reported correlations between being HIV-positive and an increased risk of contracting COVID-19, it is understandable that people with such underlying health conditions are not taking chances amid the outbreak.
Denise said that while Charlie is physically apart from his daughters, the 'Two and a Half Men' star is not distant in spirit.
“[Lola and Sam] are obviously very in contact with their dad all of the time,” Denise said. “The girls have been doing FaceTime a lot and talking to him on the phone.”
However, the Starship Troopers star admitted that it’s “a hard time.” Denise is now ensuring her daughters' education isn't hitting a roadblock despite the disruption in their day-to-day life.
“The girls are still keeping up with school. When they are in school for it during this time, they have specific times they have to be on the Zoom classes and the teachers have been really accountable at turning in assignments on time…so I’m grateful for that because I think it would be really easy for them to procrastinate and do their stuff later,” Denise said.
“So it’s been great that the schools and the teachers are really keeping the kids still have a structured day, because this is such a different time for everyone. Getting on them, making sure they’re up, doing their school — It’s the same kind of thing," she added.
Ever since Denise and Charlie's drastic divorce was finalized in September 2006, their legal battles have grabbed headlines time and again. According to legal documents obtained by The Blast in September 2019, Denise has alleged her former partner owes her a whopping $450,000 in child support.
The financial squabble was also discussed during the Season 10 premiere of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, which took off on April 15.
“This is getting me all fired up now," Denise told co-star Teddi Mellencamp after Charlie shot down her claims in the press. "He [allegedly] hasn’t paid me child support in over a year and he’s very lucky I never took him to court. It is such a toxic road, it brings up so much anxiety.”
But for all their disagreements, Denise and Charlie have done a pretty good job co-parenting their children. And according to Denise, that's because they do their best “to keep it about the kids and not anything else."
