Spoilers for 'Defending Jacob' Episode 2: 'Everything is Cool'

Those who caught up with the second episode of 'Defending Jacob' will know that everything is not all actually cool in 'Everything is Cool'. The episode sees Jacob being arrested by the police in connection with Ben Rifkin's murder. With his fingerprints found on the dead body, Jacob becomes the prime suspect in the Rifkin murder case.

However, the episode title is actually a song by John Prine from his album 'The Missing Years'. Produced by Howie Epstein, the album was released in 1991 on Oh Boy Records, and won the Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Folk Album. Part of the song is played in the episode as well.

The song in the series is sung by Sarah Grohl (Jordan Alexa Davis) in the final minutes of the episode and the sequence sees the Barbers come home after what has been an unforgettable day in their lives. A scene of Jacob lying on his bed in the cell can be seen as Sarah croons in the background. By the time the song ends, we see the next scene where Andy approaches his wife, Laurie, to say something but he doesn't.

It's safe to say the episode comes across as a soothing balm that also sees the main characters come to terms with the blow that hit them flush on the faces. The major chunk of 'Everything is Cool' revolved around Andy and Laurie battling their anger and emotions as they try to comprehend the fact that Jacob was involved as a key suspect in Ben's death. The episode also sees Andy taken off the case. Simultaneously, it also delves into Jacob's mindset after being accused of the murder.

Only time will tell what's in store for the Barbers. For now, while the evidence does point to Jacob as a murderer, it is still hard to believe that he's actually committed it. Created by Mark Bomback, 'Defending Jacob' is based on the novel of the same name by William Landay.  It stars Chris Evans, Michelle Dockery, Jaeden Martell, Cherry Jones, Pablo Schreiber, Sakina Jaffrey, Betty Gabriel, and J. K. Simmons.

'Defending Jacob' is now available for streaming on Apple TV+.
