Kanye West’s latest announcement regarding him contesting in the upcoming presidential elections has everyone talking. Many commoners and celebrities have come forward to express their opinion about his sudden decision.

When West made the big announcement on the occasion of the Fourth of July, one Internet user shared a tweet, in which the rapper was called a “redhat wearing MAGA Lunatic”. The social media user accusing him of working plans with Trump to strip Biden of supporters and votes. This tweet was immediately shared by Debra Messing, with another tweet of her own which read, “Absolutely. He’s playing Jill Stein. He’s trying to take young black voters from Biden. It’s disgusting.”

The actresses’ tweet garnered a lot of attention and even Bernie Sanders' former campaign co-chair Nina Turner weighed in to correct Messing about her opinion of West taking away the votes of young American Africans calling it “racist”.  Turner wrote, “You just can’t stop dipping can you @DebraMessing? Your connotation is racist 1 Black voters are not owned by anyone. Our vote should be earned every election cycle. 2. We can think for ourselves & don’t need your help. 3. Sometimes it’s best to stay out of family business.”

However, Messing stood by her words and responded to Turner with another tweet that read, “Oh PLEASE, Nina. Kanye is a avowed Trump supporter. Trump’s numbers have plummeted, Trump doubles down on his racist platform at Mt Rushmore, and 100 days before election Kanye is going to announce NOW? I thought you were smarter than Nina. Clearly it is an attempt to help”

In another tweet that followed, Messing has further explained that “It’s not racist to say that Kanye can take Biden leaning voters from him. It’s NUMBERS. STATISTICS. If you want to use this to grab your spotlight, by all means. If you really care about the AA”

Messing’s statements weren’t well-received by the Internet users for obvious reasons, as comments started pouring in, slamming the actress for her “ridiculous” statements about the Black people.

While one user wrote, “I'd hope that the young Black voters would be smart enough to figure this out. I don't know why people think Black people are stupid. We aren't.” Another added, “Your tweet is insulting, somewhat racist, as it assumes young Black voters are not knowledgable agents, but easily swayed by the mere presence of a Black rapper. If white Biden supporters start working on their implicit biases, more Black voters will support Biden. I assure you.”

When one agitated user wrote, “The Black vote isn't OWNED by anyone. Your privileged input wasn't needed” anther seconded saying, “Blacks aren’t stupid! Trust me..”
