The story of Debora Green shows that while one may seem to have it all on the outside, the picture behind closed doors could be different indeed. Debora, a woman who had a thriving medical career, a luxurious lifestyle and accomplished children, was at the center of this chilling story. In spite of seemingly having it all, Debora started a fire that consumed the lives of two of her children. She was also systematically poisoning her husband Michael Farrar, for months before she set fire to her family home.

So who is Debora and what is the destruction she has left in her wake, in the lives of the men she married? Debora Grey who was born in 1951 was always a bright child. She apparently taught herself how to read and write before she was even three years old. Debora who was co-valedictorian initially wanted to pursue chemical engineering but later decided that being a doctor would offer her many more opportunities.

Debora's first husband Duane MJ Green was an engineer she met while pursuing her undergraduate degree. However, the marriage did not last reportedly because of their incompatibility. Whatever incompatibility Debora and Duane shared, however, seems positively mild compared to the trauma her second husband Michael Farrar had to undergo.

In fact, according to some reports, the divorce with Duane was friendly. It seems the reason the marriage did not work out, was simply no common interests. While Debora was filing for divorce from Duane she became involved with Michael Farrar who was also a medical student and highly ambitious like Debora. They were married on May 26,1979 and had three children Timothy, Kate and Kelly. In 1992, Debora decided to focus completely on their family and gave up her medical practice.

While this may sound like the story of any young family, Debora and Michael's relationship was riddled with accusations and arguments and suspicions of affairs. According to an interview Michael Farrar gave to writer Ann Rules for her book 'Bitter Harvest' Debora had begun to resent her husband's successful career, even as she worked from home. She reportedly became more and more dependent on pills and alcohol but the tipping point came when in July 1995, Michael asked for a divorce on the heels of having an affair.

Between August and September 1995, however, Michael who had not moved out of the family home despite the impending divorce repeatedly fell violently ill. Despite numerous hospitalizations, his doctors could not pinpoint the source of his illness. Debora's emotional stability deteriorated and she began to drink heavily, even while supervising her children. On October 24, 1995, the Farrar family home caught fire. While daughter Kate Farrar and Debora managed to escape, Timothy and Kelly Farrar succumbed to the fire. Further investigation revealed that the fire originated from Debora's bedroom and that Michael's mysterious illness had been due to ricin, a poison served to him in his food by Debora.

Farrar then had to undergo brain surgery to drain an abscess that doctors believe may have been caused by the toxin. Michael Farrar still suffers from health complications as a result of the poisoning, but he still practices medicine and does what he can to advance his career every day. There is not much information currently available on Duane Green. However, we are sure for Debora's first husband as well, learning that he was living with such a disturbed individual could not have been easy to come to terms with.

The woman at the center of this gruesome tragedy, Debora, is now behind bars at the Topeka Correctional Facility in Kansas. As per her Department of Correction records, her earliest possible release date is November 21, 2035.
