The morning after the murder, Imogene Scott (Violett Beane) realizes that she could land in trouble as she sneaks into Keith Trubitsky's (Michael Gladis) room the previous night.

She goes to the security room to delete the CCTV footage. However, Rufus (Mandy Patinkin), the detective, confronts her and tells her that she is the prime suspect in the case.

However, deep down, Rufus believes that she is innocent and could help her stay out of trouble if she assists with the case.

Rufus, who spent some time with Imogene during her childhood while solving her mother's case, knew that she was blessed with a gift of sharp memory and intelligence.

Before agreeing to assist him, she enquires about the reason behind his abrupt departure from the investigation of her mother's murder. Rufus, however, unveils a more complex truth, asserting that their reunion on the ship holds a purpose.

Under pressure to spill the details, Rufus says that he is on a quest to piece together the final elements of a puzzle. His statement hints that he is at the last step of solving the mystery behind the murder of Imogene's mother.

How is Keith Trubitsy related to Imogene's past?

Towards the end of the episode, there's a sequence of young Imogene eavesdropping on Rufus as he divulges potential information about her mother's mysterious death.

She hears Rufus asking Lawrence Collier (David Marshall Grant) about Victor Sams, who, in return, questions Rufus' abilities saying he could only come up with a fake name after months of investigation.
