Deadly picture! Tourist plunges 147ft to death from cliff while taking selfie in popular island destination
NUSA PENIDA ISLAND, INDONESIA: A tourist who was taking a photo on a breathtaking cliff in the Idyllic island of Bali fell 147.6 feet to his death after slipping. On Saturday, March 4, the 43-year-old victim, Abhishek Bhatia, was traveling with a tour guide to the popular tourist destination, Broken Bay on Nusa Penida Island, when he fell.
According to guide Komang Sana, he attempted to grab Bhatia by the leg but was unable to do so because of the man's weight. The Indian national is shown lying face down in the water at the base of the cliff in graphic photos of the scene.

Victim took a position on the cliff's edge
The tourist "slipped and fell over the cliff," according to Cakra Negara, the Nusa Penida Search and Rescue (SAR) Coordinator. When he fell, he was with his partner, Eny Kusrini, 47, according to a statement from the police, as reported by Yahoo News. "After carrying out the tour of the eastern region and having lunch, the victim continued the tour of the western region, namely Klingking Beach and continued with the Broken Beach tourist attraction," the statement read.
It added, "The victim arrived at the Broken Beach tourist attraction at 16.30pm, then the victim took a position on the edge of the cliff to take a photo with his back to the Broken Beach photo object." "Then suddenly Komang Sana saw the victim lean and fall, but Komang Sana was able to hold the victim's leg. The statement added, "But because of the victim's body weight, Komang Sana could not hold it and it immediately fell to the bottom of the cliff. The victim was successfully evacuated at 19.40pm dead and then the victim's body was taken to Gema Santi Hospital, Nusa Penida." One of the most popular photo locations in Bali is Broken Bay, which features naturally occurring rock arches enclosing a sea pool.
Two people died falling from Gibralter Falls
The famed Gibraltar Falls saw the death of a young man who fell down a cliff, making it two fatalities there in the past week. According to reports, the 22-year-old fell from the well-known waterfall southwest of Canberra on February 18 at around 5.25 pm. By 6 'o' clock in the evening, emergency personnel discovered the man unconscious in the water at the scene of his fall. He was unable to be resuscitate him. It's important to note that the unidentified man is the second fatality at the popular tourist destination in the previous week. On February 12, at 11.15 am, 19-year-old Thomas Livingstone plunged to his death from the same cliff.
