BROOKLYN, NEW YORK CITY: The 41-year-old owner Jessica Chrustic of the two-and-a-half-year-old golden retriever mix who was fatally injured and later died after an unprovoked attack by a homeless man while walking in Prospect Park says she has been tracking the suspected dog killer and is now turning to Mayor Eric Adams to help find her dog's killer.

According to the DailyMail, Moose, a golden retriever mix, was brutally beaten at the Picnic House and Villa in Prospect Park on August 3. "He was rushed to a vet for emergency dental surgery and x-rays to check for damage to his jaw. One tooth was completely shattered and had to be extracted, the tooth next to it was chipped and died after two days," according to a GoFundMe page set up by Jessica. However, Moose died after two days, as he didn't survive the surgery. Now, after two months, Jessica went to the scene on Friday, October 21, armed with spunk and a bottle of pepper spray, and pursued the suspected dog killer for 15 minutes. Things took a turn, however, when he stopped and asked her, "Why are you following me?" Jessica didn't answer, but continued to pursue him, but lost sight of him. The agitated suspect suddenly reappeared and began chasing her with a can of pepper spray and a stick. "He came out of nowhere between some cars at full speed," she said.

Jessica said made calls all the while to 911 and to the detectives who were assigned to her case. The officials arrived and put her in the back of their police cruiser and searched the area for the suspect, but he disappeared. While the case remains under investigation, no arrests have been made so far, states Yahoo!

On the other hand, on October 22, Jessica asked Mayor Eric Adams for help. She said, as quoted by NY Post, "You claim that the buck stops at you when it comes to the NYPD. I am shocked and disheartened that, months after I was assaulted and my dog was killed in Prospect Park, there continues to be no real resolution or justice in this matter. Indeed, it’s fair to say that I have been victimized twice; once by my assailant, and again by the NYPD’s negligence. I’m kept awake at night by the thought that my assailant will continue to put others more vulnerable than myself at risk — a senior citizen walking in the park, another pet, or a child. Does someone need to get killed before the NYPD is able to do their job?” Adding to this, she told, “I don’t even know what else to say anymore. I don’t know what else to do. I have done basically everything I can to make [NYPD’s] job as easy as possible. I can’t do their job for them.”
