Spoilers for 'DC's Legends of Tomorrow' Season 5 Episode 15 'Swan Thong'

John Constantine's (Matt Ryan) most recognizable feature, besides his trenchcoat, is his constant chainsmoking habit. At long last, however, and with a little help from Sara Lance (Caity Lotz), Constantine begrudgingly admits that the Bad Ideas wing of a museum is exactly where cigarettes belong.

John Constantine has always had a contentious history with smoking, and earlier this season, Astra Logue (Olivia Swann) manipulated Fate to accelerate his timeline, causing him to die from lung cancer. She brought him back at the last moment after he promised to save her mother, but the fact remains that despite his line of work, cigarettes might be the one thing that finally does Constantine in. Despite this, h found it was not easy to quit smoking - he was last seen picking up the habit again in 'I am Legends,' and was stopped by the intervention of Zari Tarazi (Tala Ashe).

In the season finale, the Fates create a musuem that showcases all the worst things to have come from humanity's free will. This includes a wing filled with humanity's worst ideas, from the 'Thong Song' to Shake Weights. Included in this wing is a carton of cigarettes. This angers Constantine until Sara Lance points out that John died of lung cancer and that in this instance, the Fates are right - cigarettes are a bad idea. Though he's not happy about it, Constantine agrees with her, with a gruff, "Yeah."

That does not stop him from immediately picking up that carton of cigarettes when the Legends arm themselves with bad ideas in their final fight against the Encores. Though each of the Legends uses their bad ideas in the fight, Constantine only relies on his magic, meaning he still has the carton still on his person. It's not like it's hard to obtain cigarettes in any case, but him holding on to them shows that John is not quite ready to give up his smoking habit just yet. If there's one thing that defines John even more than his trenchcoat, it's his self-destructive attitude, and his attempt to quit smoking is a battle that will apparently continue well into Season 6.

'DC's Legends of Tomorrow' will return for Season 6 in 2021 on The CW.
