Daytime Emmys 2020: Tamara Braun wins Supporting Actress, credits 'General Hospital' despite being written off

In her acceptance speech, the actress dedicated the award to those who suffered from racial inequality

The 47th Daytime Emmy Awards got underway on CBS marking the first time the ceremony has aired on network television in years. Hosted by Sharon Osbourne, Sheryl Underwood, Eve, Carrie Ann Inaba and Marie Osmond, the hosts of CBS's daytime talk show 'The Talk', the first category of the day was 'Best Actress in a Supporting Role' and the Tamara Braun took home the win for her role as Dr Kim Nero in 'General Hospital'.  In her acceptance speech, the actress dedicated the award to those who suffered from racial inequality. 

'General Hospital' fans were pleased as punch with Braun winning the award for her role. "Congrats Tamara! Well deserved! One of the faves!" a fan wrote and the tweet was seconded by many fans who tweeted "Congratulations". Another wrote: "Yes! So deserving. Love Tamara," wrote one of the fans. One of them hoped Susan Seaforth bagged the award. "Susan Seaforth Hayes was stellar, she deserved it," wrote one of the fans. 

"Lol she thanked the 'kind ones' @GeneralHospital. They are dumbasses for writing her out. GH has systematically run off every good actor it was lucky to have," mocked one of the fans. "She's great! I wish her character would come back," a fan tweeted. "She gave away credit for her skills by cow-towing to SJWS instead of being grateful for the opportunity she sold out. Until she did that I was happy for her, now I am glad she was written off the show," opined one of the fans. 

Other nominees in the category included: Susan Seaforth Hayes as Julie Williams in 'Days of Our Lives' (NBC), Christel Khalil as Lily Winters in 'The Young and the Restless' (CBS),  and Annika Noelle as Hope Logan in 'The Bold and the Beautiful' (CBS). 

'General Hospital', the American daytime television medical drama, is listed in Guinness World Records as the longest-running American soap opera in production and the second longest-running drama in television in American history after 'Guiding Light'.
