Disgraced CBS producer's daughter takes off her bikini top and bottom in front of child on Connecticut beach, gets arrested
The daughter of disgraced CBS producer Robert "Joe" Halderman found herself wanted by law enforcement after she allegedly stripped down naked on a public beach in Connecticut in front of a young child.
Anna Lee Halderman, 28, of Norwalk, Connecticut, shocked visitors at Compo Beach in Westport on July 15 after she sunbathed without a bikini top while the complainant's young child was nearby, according to Patch.
The Westport Police Department (WPD) responded to the scene on an indecent exposure complaint from one of the beachgoers, who reported that she had seen a female on the beach "remove the top portion of her bathing suit to tan."
The beachgoer said she had attempted to confront the individual and convey her concerns but that the woman "became belligerent" and proceeded to remove the bottom portion of her swimsuit exposing her buttocks.
She also said that the woman appeared to be intoxicated at the time and that the entire confrontation took place in front of her child.
When officers arrived at the beach, they could not find the suspect. However, following a month-long "extensive" investigation, detectives identified Halderman as the culprit, and she turned herself in this past Saturday, August 17.
When questioned, the 28-year-old claimed to "not call recall what she may have done on the date" but did apologize for her actions, according to a statement from the WPD.
Halderman was charged with breach of peace and risk of injury to a minor in connection to the incident. She was released from custody after posting a $50,000 bail. She's scheduled to make her next appearance in court on August 23.
The 28-year-old is the daughter of the now-disgraced CBS News producer Robert "Joe" Halderman, who was involved in David Letterman's infamous sex scandal.
The elder Halderman had found a diary belonging to Letterman's ex-girlfriend and long-time assistant Stephanie Birkitt that proved the pair were having an affair and had tried to use it to extort Letterman for $2 million to keep it a secret.
In 2010, he was sentenced to six months behind bars, five years probation, and 1,000 hours of community service after pleading guilty to attempted second-degree grand larceny.
