WAUKESHA, WISCONSIN: A Wisconsin man who is on trial for allegedly ramming his SUV into a crowd at a Waukesha Christmas parade, killing six people, was expelled from the court once more due to his bizarre behavior. Darrell Brooks, 40, who is attempting to obstruct his trial and is acting as his own attorney, was exiled again to a different courtroom on Monday, October 24, 2022, where he started to construct a box fort to hide from the cameras.

Brooks has been in news for his bizarre acts during the course of his trial. He once took his shirt off in court during his trial, and criticized the prosecutors as being "slick." He doesn't allow the judge to speak. Furthermore, he doesn't even respond to his own name. As part of his efforts to sabotage the case, Brooks' irrational outbursts and rambunctious behavior forced Judge Jennifer Dorow to admit that she is terrified of him, Daily Mail reported. The judge informed the jury that Brooks' defense had taken a break earlier in the day, and the trial's closing arguments are scheduled to start on Tuesday.

Brooks told the court on Monday that there is a class action lawsuit involving the Ford Escape at the center of the matter, citing a "malfunctioning throttle body" on the SUV, Fox6news reported. He then requested permission to recall an inspector who had previously testified in the case in order to address this issue. However, Judge Dorow dismissed the request because it was not timely. Brooks and the judge exchanged words as he continued to ask her for explanations why his request had been denied. When the court broke for lunch, the outraged judge sent Brooks to the adjacent courtroom, but when everyone returned, Brooks was back to interrupt.

The jury was then informed by Judge Dorow that Tuesday will see the conclusion of the case. The jury will hear the arguments from each side for one hour. She continued by discussing what Brooks can or can not say during his closing arguments. Dorow said, "I need to preserve how he looks to this jury. I will need a very clear pledge from him that he will follow the rulings I make as it relates to the closing arguments. He cannot raise jury nullification. He cannot raise facts that are not part of the record."

There is a ton of evidence against Brooks, including footage showing his red Ford Escape ramming into the parade and witness reports that he was driving. If found guilty, he would be subject to numerous mandatory life sentences. He is facing 76 charges, including six counts of first-degree intentional homicide and 61 counts of reckless endangerment. Each homicide charge carries a mandatory life sentence. Each count of reckless endangerment carries a maximum punishment of 17 1/2 years in prison, as per the Daily Mail report.
