Highland Park Shooting: Disturbing figure holding rifle painted on house of Robert Crimo's parents
A disturbing painting of a black sinister figure holding a gun was noticed on the walls of the back of a house that belongs to the parents of Robert "Bobby" E Crimo III who is suspected of firing and killing people on the 4th of July in Highland Park, Illinois. The painting portrays a black, dark figure of a person with a creepy yellow-smiley face which is similar to that of a shirt worn by the suspected shooter in one of his online videos, containing terrorizing images.
Newsnation first broke the news on Tuesday, July 5, when a journalist entered one of the suspect's neighbor's houses and captured the image of the painting from their balcony. The journalist claimed that he received an anonymous tip about a disturbing painting on the back of the Highland Park shooter's parent's house. On the day of the shooting, Crimo was apparently dressed as a woman to evade police and avoid getting identified by others. The police have not yet found out his motive behind the killings. Crimo's parents also did not give any statements regarding this incident. Bob Sr who is the father of the shooter, once ran for the mayor in the past and also liked the Second Amendment tweet after the Uvalde school massacre.
According to The New York Times, the 21-year-old had a troubling past and once tried to commit suicide in 2019. Four months later, a family member contacted the authorities, reporting that Crimo had threatened to “kill everyone.” Police officers removed 16 knives, a dagger, and a sword from the home, but there was no probable cause to arrest him at that time, Deputy Chief Christopher Covelli of the Lake County Sheriff’s Office told reporters on Tuesday.
The authorities said they were looking at videos he had posted on social media, some of which showed disturbing drawings of mass shootings.“We’ll look at them and we’ll see what they reveal,” Chief Covelli said.
