Why Amanda Lucas deserves more love than Jason Dessen in 'Dark Matter'
Jason Dessen is supposed to have our love and sympathy, given that he is the protagonist in the series. However, Amanda Lucas (played by Alice Braga) is the unsung hero of the plot.
Firstly, she risks her life in her own reality to help Jason 1 escape. Even when she knows that this version of Jason doesn't love her, she continues to support him in his journey.
Let's be honest! Jason has been quite selfish all this while. Though we agree that he has been wronged, he hasn't been thankful enough to Amanda for her sacrifices.
While she has been quite selfless for the major part of the narrative, blindly following Jason 1 on his pursuit to return home, he has not even once consoled or assured her that he would not abandon her once he finds his reality.
In 'Dark Matter' Episode 7, when Amanda finally decides to stay in one of the realities, we genuinely feel happy for her. She had placed Jason's needs and desires above hers for long enough. And to see herself making a much-needed decision is a sigh of relief.
Fans love Amanda Lucas for her 'compassion' in 'Dark Matter'
Fans of 'Dark Matter' assembled on Reddit to express how much they love Amanda over any other character.
Someone wrote, "Amanda is hands down the best character in the show—so supportive, caring, smart, and sexy. That smile, those eyes—ugh. This may sound wrong, but I prefer her over Daniela."
"Amanda appears to be very compassionate, so I like that about her, since she knows that Daniela is the love of his life and no one can replace her," added another fan.

I think having Amanda connect with Blair was a great decision as it gave her a relationship that helped focus on her needs. And we saw her mother in that other world.
