Marvel's Daredevil could soon return and add some much-needed grit to the MCU

The main reason why it's taken so long to get Daredevil back into the world is because of the contract that was signed between Marvel and Netflix, which states that Marvel has to wait at least two years before they can reuse the characters used in Netflix shows without involving the streaming giant

Of all the shows that Marvel released via Netflix, 'Daredevil' stood out as the best by far. Its grittier tone and the blood-soaked narrative was a huge hit with the fans, especially the ones who were looking for something different from the usual fare that we've come to expect from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Making a case for Daredevil/Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox), a lawyer by day and vigilante by night, is easy enough. The MCU has more than enough family-friendly content and there's a lot more on the way including the planned 'Ms Marvel' series but when it comes to darker stories that appeal to a more mature audience, Marvel is seriously lagging behind its Distinguished Competition.

Getting Daredevil back into the MCU, either with a new show or a movie, would help Marvel to reach a segment of the audience that it doesn't actually connect with that well right now. After all, you would have to be blinder than Matt if you think people are going to be happy just watching kid's movies all their lives, even if they are the best in the genre.

The main reason why it's taken so long to get Daredevil back into the world is because of the contract that was signed between Marvel and Netflix, which states that Marvel has to wait at least two years before they can reuse the characters used in Netflix shows without involving the streaming giant. But since 'Daredevil' was canceled in November 2018 and the two-year period will be ending in a few months, Marvel once again has the chance to let loose the Devil of Hell's Kitchen without fear of legal blowback.

At the moment, the only thing working against Daredevil's return is the fact that he's a character who cannot be watered down to fit Marvel's PG-13 approach to filmmaking, which they're bound to be uncomfortable leaving behind, especially considering how well it's worked out for them so far. But then again, who better to help Marvel get over their apprehensions than the Man Without Fear himself?
