For the first time on 'Dancing With The Stars' Season 29, two celebrity contestants were eliminated in the semifinals. While the first round saw them redeem themselves by performing dances they didn't execute well previously, the contestants and their pro-dancer partners were given the opportunity to perform to the dance form of their choice in the second round.

Even though it was Nelly at the bottom of the rank chart, Skai Jackson and Johnny Weir were sent home along with their dancing partners Britt Stewart and Alen Bersten.

The elimination of these two couples stirred a range of reactions on social media. The majority of them were evidently disappointed with the fact that Skai and Johnny, who "deserved" to be in the finale got eliminated. Meanwhile, some are of the opinion that Skai and Britt couldn't make it to the finale only because of their skin color and called out the network for being "racist".

Skai and Britt were the only Black female celebrity contestant and pro-dancer on Season 29 of the show. Since the inception of the season, a significant number of fans had spoken about Skai's constant low scores and critical comments. On November 16, after the eliminations, fans yet again specifically expressed their disappointment with the show and the network, while blaming it for the elimination of two women of color from semifinals.

One fan who seemed upset, wrote, "Y'all sent home two black girls tonight. I can't-  #DWTS" Another added, "This feels anti-black and I just know... anyways skai and johnny deserve better. #DWTS" One fan opined, "Both black girls got eliminated tonight...ion like that #DWTS" Adding to that one tweeted, "DWTS just doesn’t appreciate black women and that’s the tea #DWTS" Another fan wrote, "how y’all send home the ONLY black female pro & the ONLY black celebrity on the SAME NIGHT!? convinced y’all have something against black women. #DWTS"
