President Donald Trump is dancing his way to winning voters' hearts. At a massive campaign rally in Florida, the 74-year-old grooved to The Village People’s 'YMCA'. As the song blared over loudspeakers, the POTUS flaunted his trademark moves, pumping his fists as the crowd cheered. As clips and snippets of his dance moves surfaced on the Internet, many were in splits — with one even saying he dances like "my grandma working out".

So, is Trump's attempt at twirling and shaking to woo the crowds working? Well, that's a story for another day. For now, let's take a look at all the former presidents and the times when they shook a leg on the dance floor.

Donald Trump

Wondering how Trump danced on the stage? Catch the moment in several clips that started floating on Twitter. "The Big Boss Dance@realDonaldTrump," one nine-second clip said. Another video mocked the president saying, "Donald Trump dances almost as bad as he Presidents."

The scrutiny is not new. His inauguration dance in 2017 was dubbed "awkward", with many wondering if it was "literally... Trump's first dance." In what was supposed to be a romantic moment with his wife, "the president flashed a thumbs up at the crowd and clutched at Melania's pointer finger, rather than take her hand in his," as per a Yahoo! report.

Barack Obama

Former US President Barack Obama’s presidency may have come to an end in 2016, but his popularity hasn't dipped at all. Back in 2018, Obama was in Kenya where he grabbed the spotlight with some amazing dance moves as his 96-year-old grandmother also joined him. Sharing a one-minute seven-second clip on Twitter, Adam Best posted at that time: "Seeing Barack Obama dance will lift your spirits. It's especially awesome that this took place in Kenya because all the racist birthers will get triggered."

And that wasn't the only time he did that. In 2015, when Obama was the president, he took to the dance floor at a State Dinner held in his honor in Nairobi.

Back in 2013, Obama was praised by his followers when he danced with former First Lady Michelle in his arms. She took to Twitter to share an adorable post: "Just danced to 'Let's Stay Together' with the love of my life and the President of the United States. I'm so proud of Barack." Awww!

George W Bush

In 2018, former president George W Bush tore up the dance floor at the nuptials of his nephew. That wasn't the first time for him. In 2008, he tried a little Astaire-Esque soft-shoe in front of the White House press corps in 2008 while waiting for Sen John McCain (R-Ariz). "I’m just going to tap-dance away the day,” he joked, as per a Washington Post report.

In 2007, when he welcomed the KanKouran West African Dance Company to the Rose Garden, a photo session surprisingly turned into an impromptu performance. "In no time, it was Bush who was enthusiastically choreographing the moves," the Associated Press reported at the time. "Flashing a big grin, Bush pounded on the drums to set the rhythm and led the women and men of the group in a little dance."

Bill Clinton

After his first inauguration in 1993, Bill Clinton tried to visit 14 balls to thank everyone who supported him, dragging his vice president Al Gore with him. His ball dance with wife Hillary was one of the highlights in his 1997 inaugurations and captivated the audience.

"The celebration is expected to keep the first couple up until four in the Washington morning," the Associated Press reported at that time. "The Clintons made dancing appearances at a number of the balls — to the delight of the cheering crowds. And there were many famous artists to keep the guests on their feet during the night. Hillary Clinton's gown was still something of a mystery until she showed off the gold-colored Oscar de la Renta full-length dress."

To conclude: Who was the best dancer of all of the presidents? Well, while each may have a striking move and trademark style, we think Obama should clinch the crown as he has been quite candid to publicly talk about it and even label his dancing skills as "dad moves". In an interview with David Letterman, he even said that he doesn't consider himself a good dancer, but understands that as long as his hand "stays in the pocket", he won't embarrass himself or his daughters.
