‘Dance Moms’ star Kalani Hilliker openly expressed her support for Donald Trump in the 2020 Presidential elections, drawing flak from certain quarters. Her posts also grabbed the attention of another ‘Dance Moms’ fame Nia Sioux, who called out the 20-year-old for endorsing someone who “doesn’t respect me, or women, or minorities, or the LGBTQ community.”

It all started with Kalani’s Instagram story from November 2, in which she told her 6.1 million followers that "everyone has the freedom to express their own opinions..we need to all come together as americans [sic] and respect one another." In the following post, she shared footage of Trump’s that appeared to be from his final campaign rally in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Nia was one of the few to criticize Kalani’s leaning towards the Republican. In response to Kalani’s post endorsing Trump, Nia shared her own story on her personal Instagram handle and wrote, "It's so hard to respect a president who doesn't respect me, or women, or minorities, or the LGBTQ community." Sioux. I'm all for respecting people but at a certain point when someone can't even denounce white supremacy how can you have respect for that person?"

In no time, Kalani’s story became subject to trolls with more and more people slamming her for supporting Trump. 'DWTS' Season 29 contestant Skai Jackson, according to Insider, wrote under one Kalani’s post on Trump rally, saying, “Why the picture of Donald?" Furthermore, Kalani also shared a tweet with the #Trump2020, which wasn't well-received by many. Her status read, "No matter who you’re voting for use your voice and vote!!! It’s your right!!!  #Trump202020"

In no time, fans of 'Dance Moms' were seen praising Nia and Maddie Ziegler. A majority of them slammed Hilliker as "dumb" and stated as the reason why Maddie was always better than her on the show. One tweeted, "there’s a reason maddie was always top of the pyramid you dumb b**ch" while another said, "i love maddie ziegler sm tho like she’s so unproblematic" Extending their support to Maddie another tweeted, "EVERYONE SAY IT WITH ME, MADDIE DESERVED ALL THE SOLOS". Fans also praised Nia for addressing Hilliker's controversial tweet and speaking on behalf of minorities, women, and LGBTQ community. One shared, "This is why Nia has a career and Kalani doesn't." Another tweeted, "this is why maddie and nia are the only relevant ones stfu kalani"
