Wrestler and coach Dan Gable was honored with the Medal of Freedom in the Oval Office by President Donald Trump on Monday, December 7. The 72-year-old’s big family, which included his 13 grandkids, also accompanied him for his special day. Though the function was held for Gable, it was the grandchildren who stole it by showcasing their naughtiness.

As POTUS gave the prestigious medal to the Olympic gold medalist, one of his grandchildren swung back and forth in the background. The six-year-old Sammy reportedly bent on the Resolute Desk and then leaned over almost backward. Another kid was so bored that he stared at the document pronouncing Gable as a Medal of Freedom recipient with weird facial expressions. Some of the kids were also seen laying or sitting on the floor of the Oval Office while their grandfather and the Republican leader made their remarks. At one point, Gable’s sons-in-law tried to handle the kids at the ceremony, which was intended to be serious.

The internet was quick to react to Gable's adorable grandchildren. "Dan Gable's grandkids are all of us hanging on by a thread waiting for 2020 to JUST END ALREADY," a user commented, adding, "#DanGable's grandchildren stole the show at his #MedalofFreedom ceremony Monday afternoon. For the Monday function, Gable’s wife Kathy, three daughters Annie, Jenni, Mackenzie, and Molly, and their husbands, all were also present. They were all formal and serious, unlike the kids. Trump thanked Gable’s “wonderful wife Kathy and their incredible and large family” when the ceremony started. “Thank you very much, it’s a great honor for us,” he added. The two-time NCAA Division I national champion was asked if he thought Trump could win over him in wrestling, he responded, “No chance.” He also added that wrestling “isn’t for everyone but it should be”.

According to the White House, the Medal of Freedom was “established by President John F. Kennedy in 1963, this prestigious award is the Nation’s highest civilian honor. It is awarded by the President of the United States to individuals who have made exceptional contributions to the security or national interests of America, to world peace, or to cultural or other significant public or private endeavors. Past recipients have been movers and shakers in a range of fields, including public service, medicine, journalism, entertainment, and business. The impressive list of past honorees includes Steven Spielberg, Muhammad Ali, Angela Merkel, Nancy Reagan, Mother Teresa, Billy Graham, Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King, Jr.”

The page also includes a short biography of Gable that read: “Danny Mack Gable is one of the greatest wrestlers of all time and among the best collegiate athletes and coaches of the 20th Century. He was a three-time All-American, winning two NCAA National Championships and a gold medal at the 1972 Olympic Games. He followed his career on the mat with an even more celebrated coaching career at the University of Iowa, leading the Hawkeyes to 21 Big 10 championships and 15 national championships. The United States is proud to honor Danny Gable for his remarkable contributions to the sports world and to our great American story.”
