CAMERON COUNTY, TEXAS: In a "quick moment of rage" at home, a Texas teen allegedly fatally stabbed his mother and stabbed his father several times in the rib cage and stomach on Tuesday, April 18. During a press conference on Wednesday, Primera Chief of Police Manuel Trevino said that Angela Watt Gilbert, 47, was stabbed her 18-year-old son eight times.

"I can say one thing, the female did fight. She had several defensive wounds on her hands, so she didn’t go down without a fight. But again, this was her son attacking her. She probably had no idea what was coming," the police chief said of the slain woman, reported Law and Crime.

'Moment of rage that went totally out of control'

After cops arrived at the scene in the Stuart Place home, they found Angela in the living room lying in a pool of blood. The suspect's father Gary Gilbert pinned down the boy and called 911 despite being attacked.

The teenager "gave a confession to the entire incident" and told cops that he was not under any influence of alcohol or drug. According to Chief Trevino, the alleged murderer said that the stabbing took place in a "quick moment of rage," and the police chief described the incident as a "moment of rage that went totally out of control."

"It’s an unfortunate matter, especially being that the suspect is the son of the victims, and the age of the suspect is what really throws me a lot," Trevino said. He also that the Gilbert family is currently going through a tough time burying Angela, hoping for Gary's recovery and witnessing Dallas' possible imprisonment.

Dallas was previously arrested for drug offense

During the press conference, Trevino revealed that though there has been no occurrence of any major incidents at the residence before, cops have responded to the residence in 2022 for a "verbal disturbance call." According to the police chief, the 18-year-old boy was previously arrested for a "minor drug offense." In connection to a THC possession case from October 2022, the suspect was indicted on March 22, 2023, according to Cameron County court records. Dallas was taken into custody on Wednesday, April 19, and has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and murder, reported Law and Crime.
