Cynthia Nixon reveals 'Sex and the City' costume designer and his husband are the fathers of her 8-year-old son Max
Cynthia Nixon has finally revealed the identity of her and her wife Christine Marinoni's eight-year-old son Max's fathers in an Instagram post which she shared on Monday, October 21.
The 'Sex and the City' star shared a picture of the young child being fitted into his Halloween costume and wrote, "When your dad’s a costumer and you always wanted to be Pennywise..." The picture showed Max along with the man who had designed his costume—Michael Growler.
Growler, 50, and Nixon, 53, have a relationship that goes back over a decade.
The couple had first worked together on 'Rabbit Hole' for which Nixon had won a Tony Award. Growler had also worked with Nixon on both of her 'Sex and the City' films.
Growler's husband William Bowers, 60, is also a father to Max. Bowers is a mime actor who had studied with Marcel Marceau and has taught at NYU and the Stella Adler Studio of Acting.
In 2018, Nixon had shared a picture of her and her wife Marinoni with Max, Growler, and Bowers. She had captioned the image, "To all of the amazing dads in our children's lives: Happy #FathersDay!"
52-year-old Marinoni is an activist and a community organizer who had founded the Alliance for Quality Education in New York in 2000 which is when she had met Nixon.
Nixon has three children: Samuel Joseph Mozes, Max Ellington Nixon-Marinoni, Charles Ezekiel Mozes.
Last year, Samuel came out as transgender and Nixon made it clear that she was supporting him.
While speaking to Us Weekly, Nixon shared, "I’m very proud of him. It’s one of those things. I felt really weird using the other pronoun in public, but people didn’t know yet. He was good with it, and it was really nice, actually, when we announced it. There was some general, you know, voicings of support but generally, it was not a big deal".
It was recently announced that Nixon and 'The Good Fights' actor Christina Baranski would be joining the cast of 'Downtown Abbey'.
