Who is Cynthia Lummis? Here's why Trump endorsed her for US Senate run and called her 'friend and great woman'
Former Wyoming Congressman Cynthia Lummis, who has served for eight years as the representative in Congress from 2008 through 2016, just got the biggest thumbs up on Twitter with a green light from President Donald Trump for the US Senate in the 2020 election. "@CynthiaMLummis is a friend of mine and a great woman. She is running for Senate in the very Special State of Wyoming. Cynthia is Strongly for our Military, our Vets, and protection of the Second Amendment..." his tweet read, adding, "...She will be a great Senator, and has my Complete and Total Endorsement!"
This is not the first big backing as she has many other A-list endorsements from the likes of Senator Ted Cruz, Senator Mike Lee, Senator Rand Paul, US Representative Mark Meadows, FreedomWorks for America and Senators Mike Enzi and John Barrasso. Nevertheless, Trump's tweet made many more heads turn from across the globe.

Currently running for Senator Mike Enzi’s seat, who is set for retirement after this term, the 66-year-old was thankful for Trump's endorsement. "I am honored to have the endorsement of President Trump," she said as per a Cowboy State Daily report. "Right now, it is more important than ever that we follow President Trump’s lead and put America First! In the US Senate, I’ll stand shoulder-to-shoulder with President Trump to bring manufacturing jobs back to the United States from overseas and get our economy back on track. With support from the people of Wyoming, I look forward to working with President Trump to launch the Great American Comeback."
Born Cynthia Marie Lummis Wiederspahn, she was one of four children born in Cheyenne, Wyoming, to Doran Lummis and late Enid Bennett, who was highly active in Cheyenne Frontier Days and the Republican Party. After her mother's death, Lummis said in a statement, "I carry with me so many lessons my mother taught me; chief among them is the quiet grit she displayed in the face of pain and adversity."
A member of the Republican Party, she has served as a State Representative, State Senator and State Treasurer. While she didn't seek re-election in 2016, she is running for the US Senate in the 2020 election. Along with Marsha Blackburn and Diane Black, she is one of the three female US Representatives in Congress who prefers being referred to as "congressman" instead of "congressperson" or "congresswoman".
Ranked among the wealthiest members of Congress, she gets her wealth from her family-owned Arp and Hammond Company, Lummis Livestock Company and Old Horse Pasture, Inc. In 2008, she reportedly said that her wealth ranged from $20M to $75M.
Earlier, she was considered to be the United States Secretary of the Interior in the Trump administration after Ryan Zinke's resignation. However, David Bernhardt was appointed in his place. This time, however, she seems to have a good chance of getting the spot for the US Senate in the 2020 election.
