Cult couple face death penalty for strangling Nebraska woman, dismembering body after luring her on Tinder
LEXINGTON, NEBRASKA: A couple, who were allegedly involved in a witchcraft cult, are currently facing death penalty after being convicted of killing and dismembering a Nebraska woman, 24, whom they lured using Tinder. In 2017, Sydney Loofe, 24, was murdered by Bailey Boswell, 26, and her boyfriend, Aubrey Trail, 54. Boswell was found guilty of first-degree murder on Wednesday, October 14, while Aubrey had been found guilty in a July 2019 trial, The Sun reports.
After killing Loofe, the couple allegedly dismembered her body into 14 pieces. Loofe had reportedly gone on a date with Boswell after the two had connected on Tinder. While meeting the victim, Boswell had lied about her name and said she was someone called Audrey. As per reports, Loofe had been very excited after the two had met. However, when Loofe went to meet Boswell for the second time, she was strangled to death. During Trail's trial, it was alleged that Loofe had accidentally choked to death while the three were playing a sex game.
The victim's remains were found in different garbage bags which were then scattered across rural roads in Nebraska. As per the Lincoln Journal Star, the testimony at Boswell's trial had revealed that she and Trail had also lured many other women via dating apps before and the two had claimed to be in charge of a witch coven. During the trial, earlier in October, a woman called Ashley Hills had taken the stand and claimed that Trail told her that he was a vampire and Boswell had been his witch queen. Hills added that the couple would often speak of killing as well as witchcraft. They had told Hills that she could also gain some magical powers if she decided to kill someone. Hills had also met Boswell via Tinder though, at that time, Boswell had been using the fake name, Jenna. She shared that she had only agreed to meet Trail as Boswell had told her that he was her "sugar daddy".
Hills added how she had initially expressed an interest in being part of the witch coven and that the couple had told her "to get your power, you would have to breathe in someone's last breath". She further added that she eventually came to her senses, and left the couple. Hills also shared that she had never met or even heard of Loofe before she was killed. Trail's sentencing is set to take place in December while Boswell's sentencing date has not yet been decided. If she does get sentenced to death, she will be the first woman in Nebraska to be put on death row.
Many social media users took to Facebook to express their condolences for the victim's family. One such user had shared, "Prayers for Sydney’s family. May they finally find some comfort in knowing these evil people will never be able to harm another soul." Another commented and wrote, "So glad they found her guilty... maybe now Sydney’s family can find some closure. A big thank you to the men & women on the jury; prayers for each of you also."
