'Crisis on Infinite Earths': Here are the three men of steel who will fight together to save the universe

Tyler Hoechlin, who's essayed Superman in the 'Supergirl' series for the past few years will reprise his role; Brandon Routh, the Superman on the big screen in 2006's 'Superman Returns,' will don the suit of the Kingdom Come Superman; and Tom Welling will be Smallville's Clark Kent.

'Crisis on Infinite Earths', the Arrowverse's crossover event is a mega-multiverse shattering battle and reinforcements come in the form of superheroes and villains from different worlds. The battle will feature three Supermen and the fact that three powerful beings coming in to fight the Anti-Monitor, gives an idea of the magnitude of the event. That there are three Supermen comes as a great piece of news for Superman fans as they get to see their favorite versions battle alongside in a fight to save the universe.

Tyler Hoechlin, who's essayed Superman in the 'Supergirl' series for the past few years will reprise his role, Brandon Routh, the Superman on the big screen in 2006's 'Superman Returns' will don the suit of the Kingdom Come Superman. Tom Welling is confirmed to appear as Smallville's Clark Kent. He will be continuing the story that ended eight years ago. Here's a quick overview of the three Supermen slated to appear:

Tyler Hoechlin ('Supergirl')

Kal-El is back and so Elizabeth Tulloch returning as that Earth's Lois Lane. Last we saw, the couple were expecting a child and the new season of 'Supergirl' may introduce the child to the world. However, it remains to be seen if this Superman will make the ultimate sacrifice instead of Kara Danvers aka Supergirl (Melissa Benoist). After all, we cannot forget the iconic image of the Man of Steel carrying a dead Supergirl.

Brandon Routh ('Kingdom Come Superman')

One of the most-anticipated superheroes is Brandon Routh's Kingdom Come Superman. With the storyline revolving around entire worlds destroyed by the entity, it makes sense for the Kingdom Come Superman to join the battle. At the moment it is unclear if Routh's version will be similar to the comics hero — grey-haired and grimmer. In the comics, the Kingdom Come Superman is portrayed as an older version of the Kryptonian hero, stoic and intimidating. His symbol was an altered S with the yellow background changed to black. It was a rather dark representation of the superhero who retreated to his Fortress of Solitude for a decade after the death of Lois Lane.

Tom Welling ('Smallville')

Welling will make a comeback as the Smallville version of Clark Kent, aka Superman, and this time fans will hope to see him don the iconic costume for more than a passing moment. His character will be picking up eight years after the events of Smallville.
