How the 'Crisis on Infinite Earths' established LaMonica Garrett's Anti-Monitor as the deadliest villain ever from DC

The path to 'Crisis On Infinite Earths' was set in last year's Elseworld's episode and was referenced in the individual shows after that.

LaMonica Garrett's Monitor turned up in every show, 'Arrow', 'The Flash', 'Supergirl' and 'Legends Of Tomorrow', during their season finales, teasing how each of the series would contribute to the multiversal Crisis.

However, while the Monitor appeared in each show, we were not introduced to the Anti-Monitor, played by Garrett, yet, till the latest episode of 'Crisis'. The superheroes were saved, while the rest of the universe was wiped out by an unstoppable wave of anti-matter.

For those unversed with the Anti-Monitor, he was originally born at the dawn of time and connected with anti-matter beings, like the Weaponers of Quard, as he wished to increase entropy in the universe and then annihilate it all.

For the events of Infinite Crisis, he was recreated and served as the Guardian counterpart for the Sinestro corps. He was later defeated by Steve Trevor and Darkseid's daughter.



 

However, he has now returned to the comics and has been revealed as one of the three brothers, Monitor, Anti-Monitor and the World Forger, the children of Perpetua, the evil celestial who created the multiverse.

There is a constant struggle between the Monitor and Anti-Monitor, and during the experiments of Pariah, Monitor reaches out to the superheroes to defeat the big bad, once and for all. 

In the TV show, 'Crisis On Infinite Earths', Nash Wells (Tom Cavanagh) releases the Anti-Monitor and is later reborn as Pariah, forced to watch the destruction that the Anti-Monitor unleashes over different planets.

The sky turns an ominous red, and the world is obliterated, including Supergirl's home, the Titan's universe and more. In the end, the Flash, who was expected to die in the Crisis, survives while the Barry Allen from the alternate universe sacrifices himself.

Though the superheroes are transported to safety, their loved ones all die at the hands of the Anti-Monitor. 

Till now, we've seen a strange assortment of evil villains, be it the terrorist organization Leviathan or the sinister Bloodwork, who could bend blood. But clearly, the Anti-Monitor is the most dangerous enemy the superheroes have had till now. 

What will happen next in the Crisis? We will have to wait and see.
