'Criminal Minds' Season 15 Episode 8: Can the show leave Spencer Reid alone for 30 seconds?
Even though 'Criminal Minds' is down to its last two episodes after a fantastic run, the show leaves a lot to be desired when it comes to Spencer Reid's well being.
Fans are furious that the show and its writers don't let Reid live like a normal person even for an episode and continue to torment him, especially in the final trailer. The clip shows Reid walking into a building as a bomb goes off, landing him in the hospital with various tubes sticking out of his body.
Fans have just had enough. "Can they leave Reid alone for like, 30 seconds?" a fan said on Reddit. Another added, "It wouldn’t be 'Criminal Minds' if Reid doesn’t get hurt, emotionally or physically, at least once every season... But he already has twice this season! Leave him alone."
They're right though. Right from the start, the show has given him nothing but grief. They killed his girlfriend, his mom loses her mind from schizophrenia and when he eventually did fall in love, a hitwoman that he helped put away comes back and kidnaps the girl.
Can he catch a break? Apparently not. "Reid getting hurt? Again? A f**king gain? Nothing new nothing changed the same old shit. Same old f**king shit," said another fan.
This season alone, Reid has been put in harm's way at least twice. A fan favorite through and through and a character who has stuck through all of the seasons of this show, Reid the awkward genius is very loved by the fandom. By this point, it feels like they try to hurt him just to achieve the wow factor. "It's been 15 years, why are we still torturing Spencer Reid?" said a fan echoing the emotions of the fandom. " For a change, can’t Reid catch a break?!" another said.
An angry fan tweeted hoping Reid and his love interest Max will get together, "I SWEAR TO GOD IF REID DIES AND DOESNT GET HIS HAPPY ENDING WITH MAX, I MIGHT ACTUALLY KILL THE WRITERS #CriminalMinds."
Emotions are running high as the time for the finale inches closer. Catch the two-hour season finale of 'Criminal Minds' on CBS on Wednesday, February 19, at 9 pm ET.
