Ever wondered what happens in a couples therapy session? What goes on inside the therapist’s office? Then you should check out Showtime’s upcoming docuseries ‘Couples Therapy’. The show takes us into therapist Dr. Orna Guralnik’s office, where she helps couples navigate and address a host of issues that are plaguing their relationship.

The show is set to premiere on September 6, at 10 PM ET/PT on Showtime. 

Plot

Under the expertise of world-renown therapist Dr. Orna Guralnik, four couples undergo their weekly therapy sessions where they identify the root cause of problems in their relationship, confront their insecurities and are equipped with tools to improve their relationship. Showtime describes the show as "'Couples Therapy' unlocks a hidden world: other people’s relationships. Far from reality-show caricatures, this is true documentary filmmaking that brings viewers into the authentic and visceral experience of weekly therapy with four couples. World-class therapist Dr. Orna Guralnik deftly guides the couples through the minefield of honest confrontation with each other and with themselves, revealing the real-life struggles — and extraordinary breakthroughs — typically hidden behind closed doors."

The show features therapist Dr. Orna Guralnik and four couples, through the course of its nine-episode series. Guralnik is a Clinical Psychologist and Psychoanalyst practicing in New York City.  She is on faculty at the National Institute for the Psychotherapies in NYC, where she teaches courses on the trans-generational transmission of trauma and on dissociation.

'Weiner' filmmakers  Josh Kriegman, Elyse Steinberg, and Eli Despres have produced the show. 'Weiner' is an award-winning documentary based on disgraced congressman Anthony Weiner as he tries to run for the position of Mayor amidst sex-scandal allegations against him. The documentary has been nominated for BAFTA Awards, Critics' Choice Awards, amongst several other nominations.

The trailer shows Dr. Orna Guralnik helping the couples address a range of relationship issues from trust issues to identity crisis in the relationship. We get to see what all happens inside a therapist's office during a therapy session.
