Omera Akinloba: Florida girl dies after anti-vax parents fed her only french fries, denied medical treatment
JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA: A couple is facing aggravated manslaughter charges after they allegedly starved their little daughter for years, who died of lack of vaccines and low levels of Vitamin B-3. Anna and Amero Akinloba from Florida have been pressed with aggravated manslaughter charges in connection with the death of Omera, who died in April 2018, after becoming unresponsive due to several days of illness. The medical examiner's autopsy stated the victim died due to "multi-organism bacterial sepsis", finding it not suspicious. However, later a probe by the First Coast Child Protection Team found signs of neglect by the pair.
At the time, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office did not launch a probe into the death since no sign of abuse or neglect was found. However, a review done by the First Coast Child Protection Team revealed the harsh truth, which eventually resulted in the case against the parents. It was found that the young girl was only given Whataburger French fries to eat by the couple, who also did not seek medical help after the victim developed a rash all over her body. They did not even take her for mandatory vaccinations as they believed vaccines had more side-effects than advantages. It has been reported that the suspects self-diagnosed the minor with autism. However, it was not because of any vaccinations. They also allegedly self-treated their daughter’s rash, which they also self-diagnosed as eczema and used over-the-counter lotion.

Later, an autopsy conducted on the child revealed that she had a disease called pellagra, caused by low levels of Vitamin B-3.
Because of these allegations, the two are now facing one count of aggravated manslaughter of a child each and have been held behind bars on $150,000 bail each. Their arraignment has been scheduled for March 3.
In another incident, a couple from Florida was facing charges after they confessed to handcuffing a young boy and keeping him locked in a closet for around 16 hours a day as a punishment since Christmas. 41-year-old John Hernandez and 37-year-old Natasha Dabbs were arrested in January in relation to the alleged child abuse. The victim reportedly told cops that the suspects handcuffed him and forced him to stand in a closet as punishment for about 16 hours a day for the past couple of weeks.
The relationship between the boy and the couple was not clear yet, but Dabbs claimed to know about the alleged abuse and did nothing to stop it. Both of them have been taken into custody and charged. While the male faces aggravated child abuse (malicious punishment) charge and his bond was set at $25,000, the woman has been charged with child neglect and failure to report child abuse. Her bond is set at $10,000.
In a statement, Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister said, “The actions of this couple are reprehensible. I am so proud of our deputies for noticing something was not right while they were at the initial call and following through. Their actions may have saved this young boy's life." The case is still under investigation.
