Country singer Alan Jackson's son-in-law dies in tragic accident while helping woman onto a boat
Country singer Alan Jackson and his family have sought support and prayers from fans after the singer's son-in-law passed away after suffering head injuries in an accident on a boat dock. In a post shared on his website on Thursday, the 59-year-old crooner shared the deeply tragic news of his son-in-law Ben Selecman's passing, before asking his loyal fan-following for "prayers during this difficult time".
"Samuel Benton 'Ben' Selecman – husband of Mattie Jackson Selecman and son-in-law of country artist Alan Jackson – died unexpectedly Wednesday, September 12, in West Palm Beach, Florida," the post began, "Selecman, a Nashville resident, had recently suffered severe traumatic head injuries in a fall. He was 28 years old."
As it turns out, Selecman, who tied the knot with Alan's oldest daughter Mattie in October, had met with a tragic accident while trying to help a woman on a boat dock in Jupiter, Florida, on Wednesday. In the process of providing aid to the woman, Selecman unfortunately slipped and hit his head, suffering fatal head injuries.
