Florida Rep Cory Mills, an Iraq war veteran, earned praise for his role in rescuing 32 stranded Americans in Israel during a recent Hamas attack

MIAMI, FLORIDA: Florida Representative Cory Mills, an Iraq war veteran, has garnered internet praise for his role in the rescue of 32 stranded Americans in Israel during the recent attack by Hamas, a Palestinian militant group.

Mills, a Republican, flew into Israel to assist in bringing these US citizens home. Due to operational concerns and constraints, specific details of the rescue mission and its location remain undisclosed.

Mills did, however, emphasize that some of the rescued Americans had found themselves in areas of Israel that were not considered safe for a full evacuation.

He decided to personally intervene after noticing the lack of on-the-ground plans from the Biden administration to repatriate US citizens.

Mills cited a similar situation in 2021 when he assisted trapped individuals in Afghanistan after President Joe Biden's decision to withdraw from the country.

“I went in and was very thankful to be able to get — for the second time, by the way, I’ll just add — helping the Biden administration, who has failed to do their job,” Mills told Fox News.

“[The] first time I did it was in 2021 where I conducted the very first successful rescue of Americans. But here it is, the second time doing the Biden administration’s work because they had no plan,” he said.

He also criticized President Biden for not being more available to reporters during the intense conflict between Israel and Hamas in Gaza.

“I think it’s about time that the American people put a lid on the disastrous administration that continues to fail in their plan and strategy to be able to get Americans out or to take into account the foreign policy [situation] that they actually create that actually leads to these types of incidents,” Mills claimed.

More than 100 Israelis, including numerous foreign nationals, are presumed to be held captive in the Gaza Strip following Hamas' attack on Israel, which has also resulted in the deaths of at least 14 US citizens and left an unknown number unaccounted for.

Internet users celebrated him as a genuine American hero. A user tweeted, "True hero!" Another added, "Actions over words!!" A third claimed, "He is a hero!! He deserves a medal."

A fourth said, "He is a true hero and takes his position seriously. We need more Representatives like him." 

"Rep Cory Mills , I'm proud to live in the same state you represent. And you're are one hell of a politician as well. As Airman of American Heros . And should be awarded along with the team that pulled this present mission, and the 21 mission, you will always get my vote," read a tweet. 

A user stated, "This is the difference between a Politician and a Representative Politicians are for the status and greed Representative are for the people by the people. Let that sink in..... "Great American hero," hailed another. A user tweeted, "I'm truly thankful someone is doing the right thing."
