Coronavirus: As New York goes into lockdown, 50 Cent heads to strip club with stacks of cash
Rapper 50 Cent responded to calls for staying safe through 'social distancing' to prevent the spread of the deadly coronavirus by stepping out on Saturday night and spending time at a club in New York City.
The club 50 Cent went to wasn't just any club either. The 'Candy Shop' singer went partying to the Starlet's Gentleman's club in Woodside, just outside of Jackson Heights, an area that draws in massive crowds and has already reported multiple cases of the coronavirus. And despite the warnings from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the government concerning the pandemic, the club was still somehow totally packed.
And if the rapper being out at a club that poses a high risk isn't troubling enough, he also showed up without any precautionary items such as gloves and face mask. He seemed to thoroughly enjoy his night out in the town, walking into the club with a whole lot of cash that he became increasingly happy to spend as the night went on and the DJ chose to play more of 50 Cent's music. He even threw several stacks of money onto the stage as strippers danced for -- and on -- him.
While 50 Cent seemed to be totally unconcerned about the virus, the city is clearly not taking things so lightly. NYC is currently the state with the highest number of confirmed cases of coronavirus, so it is understandable that they are in a state of panic and going into lockdown. Schools and businesses are either closing or opting for online alternatives and the usually jam-packed streets of the bustling city seem more like a page out of a dystopian novel now that they're nearly empty.
The CDC has recently warned against large gatherings, urging organizers to cancel or postpone in-person events with over 50 people in events, and NYC has chosen to limit in-person options at restaurants, bars, and cafés, only allowing take-out and delivery options. The city has also ordered all nightclubs, movie theaters, and small theater houses to close, effective March 17.
50 Cent himself has had to halt production on his TV series 'Power' due to the shut down of large gatherings. But even with this choice, the rapper chose to wait till the last moment, stating on his Instagram, "I had to do it we were the last production still working."
All things considered, it seems 50 Cent remains unbothered by the virus. At least he got to enjoy one night in the town and go home with a few happy memories before the city went into a total shutdown. Hopefully, happy memories are all he came back home with!
