The deadly coronavirus outbreak has infected over 136,000 people across the world, including quite a few notable personalities. Here's a list of celebrities, politicians, and sportspersons, who have also tested positive for COVID-19 and are now under quarantine for the safety of people around them and for themselves. 

Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson

Oscar-winning actor Tom Hanks, who was in Australia with Rita Wilson for pre-production work on a film about singer Elvis Presley, took to Instagram in early March 2020 to announce that he and his wife tested positive for coronavirus after exhibiting symptoms like tiredness, body aches, chills, and slight fever. They are now being tested, observed and isolated as long as required for public health and safety. 

Rudy Gobert

Rudy Gobert is a French basketball player for the Utah Jazz of the National Basketball Association.  He plays for the center position for the team. He took to Instagram in early March 2020 to announce his results of being tested positive for coronavirus. Due to this, at that time the Jazz team had to schedule their match against the Thunder in Oklahoma City. After this, the NBA has canceled its season until further notice.

Donovan Mitchell

Donovan Mitchell is an American basketball player and is a teammate of Rudy Gobert. In early March 2020, he took to Instagram to announce that he too has been tested positive for coronavirus after Rudy Gobert, who was tested positive just a day before him. 

Sophie Trudeau

Sophie Trudeau, the wife of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, was also tested positive for coronavirus in early March 2020. Trudeau took to Twitter on his wife’s behalf and posted the test progressions and results. He too has self-isolated himself since then. 

Iraj Harirchi

Iraj Harirchi is an Iranian politician and physician. He is currently the deputy minister of Health and Medical education. In Feb 2020, he was diagnosed positive for coronavirus but according to recent updates from an Iranian news agency, he was isolated and treated and has since recovered. 

Franck Riester 

Franck Riester is a French politician and is currently a French Minister of Culture. He was diagnosed positive with coronavirus early this March 2020. “He is not admitted to the hospital but is confined at home, with a very few symptoms,” informed France’s Health Minister Oliver Veran in an interview with French news channel BFMTV. 

Nadine Dorries 

Nadine Dorries is a British Conservative politician serving as a parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Health and Social Care since 2019 and has served as Member of Parliament for Mid Bedfordshire since 2005. She tested positive with coronavirus in early March 2020. She has self-isolated herself at her house. 

Javier Ortega Smith

Javier Ortega Smith is a Spanish-Argentine lawyer and politician. Secretary-General of Vox, the second most prominent position in the Spanish party after its president Santiago Abascal. He was tested for coronavirus in early March 2020 and the test results came back positive

Nicola Zingaretti 

Nicola Zingaretti is an Italian politician who has served as President of Lazio since 2013 and Secretary of the Democratic Party since 2019. Early this March he tested positive for coronavirus and has self-isolated himself at home.

Mikel Arteta

Mikel Arteta is a professional Spanish football coach and a former player. He is currently the head coach at Premier League Club Arsenal. Earlier this month he tested positive for coronavirus and has self-isolated himself. 

Daniele Rugani

Daniele Rugani is a professional Italian football player who plays center-back for Serie A club Juventus and the Italy national team. He tested positive with coronavirus in early March 2020. 

Manolo Gabbiadini

Manolo Gabbiadini is an Italian professional footballer who plays as a striker for Sampdoria. In early March 2020, he tested positive for coronavirus and is confined in isolation.

Idris Elba

‘Luther’ actor Idris Elba took to Twitter to announce that he has tested positive for COVID-19 early this March. In his announcement video, he informed that he had no symptoms but he got tested because he had met someone who had tested positive. Elba self-quarantined himself once he found out the results. He urged his viewers to follow social distancing and wash their hands regularly claiming that “this is serious”.

Kristofer Hivju

Kristofer Hivju, a Norweigan actor who is best known for his role in ‘Game of Thrones’ tested positive for the virus. He shared the news on Instagram and has announced that he has self- isolated himself earlier this March. Soon after this, Netflix announced that they will conduct a deep clean of 'The Witcher' set and advised its staff to quarantine themselves.

Olga Kurylenko

The Ukrainian-born French actress and model known as the ‘Bond girl’ for her appearance in ‘Quantum of Solace’, Olga Kurylenko tested positive for COVID-19 in early March. She has self-isolated herself at home claiming on Instagram that she had been ill for about a week with fever and fatigue.

Daniel Dae Kim

Daniel Dae Kim an American actor famous for his role in the series ‘Lost’ and ‘Hawaii Five-0’ took to Instagram to announce that he has tested positive and has self-isolated himself. His family has all tested negative for the virus. Kim also spoke out against the xenophobia and anti-Asian racism that’s risen since the coronavirus crisis began.

Indira Varma

British actress Indira Varma is known for her role in ‘Kama Sutra: A Tale of Love’ and 'Game of Thrones', took to Instagram to inform about her positive test for the virus.

Kevin Durant

Kevin Durant is a famous American basketball player for Brooklyn Nets of the NBA. On March 18, he tested positive and has self-isolated himself. He is under the care of team physicians.

Marcus Smart

Marcus Smart, a player for Boston Celtics of NBA has tested positive for the virus. Smart took to Twitter to announce the news and has self-quarantined himself since the test results.

Christian Woods 

Detroit Piston player of NBA Christian Woods has tested positive for the virus in early March. Woods is under isolation in the care of a medical team. 

Mario Diaz Balart

Mario Diaz Balart is a Republican US Representative for Florida's 25th congressional district. He is the first member of the US Congress to test positive for the virus. He has self-quarantined himself and his office released a news release that informed that he had developed symptoms including fever and headache before the test results.

Ben McAdams 

Ben McAdams is an American politician serving as the US Representative for Utah congressional district. He released a statement on Twitter, confirming that he has tested positive for the virus. He has self- quarantined himself after consulting with his doctor.

Arielle Chranas

Instagram star Arielle Chranas, a New York-based fashion influencer with 1.3 million followers, was tested positive. She posted a story on Instagram, talking about her symptoms saying she has a fever, sore throat, headache, sinus pressure, etc. Her followers are outraged since she allegedly used her connections to get tested, while common Americans are being turned away by doctors as there is a shortage of test.

Harvey Weinstein

Harvey Weinstein is a former American Film producer and a convicted rapist. He is a co-founder of the entertainment company ‘Miramax’. Weinstein tested positive for the virus while in the New York state prison system and has been put in solitary confinement at Wende Correctional Facility in Western New York.

Rand Paul

Rand Paul is an American politician and a US senator. He is the first Senator to have tested positive for the virus. He has self quarantined himself. News of Paul’s positive results has prompted other senators to self-quarantine as well.

Debi Mazar

Debi Mazar, supporting actress in ‘Younger’ has tested positive for the virus. The ‘Entourage’ actress took to Instagram to announce her results, informing her fans that she is okay. She and her whole family are under quarantine.

Colton Underwood

‘The Bachelor’ Season 23 star Colton Underwood, has also tested positive for the virus. He took to Instagram to announce his results. He informed his fans that he has been following the social distancing rules and is urging others to self-quarantine themselves.

Begona Gomez 

Begona Gomez, wife of Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez of Spain has tested positive for the virus. Gomez and Sanchez have quarantined themselves at their residence in Madrid and are following instructions of their medical authorities.

Prince Albert

Albert II is the reigning Prince of Monaco and head of the princely house of Grimaldi. He tested positive earlier this March. He has self-isolated himself but is still continuing to work from his office at his private residence.

Prince Charles

The Prince of Wales, Prince Charles, the eldest son of Queen Elizabeth and the heir to the British throne tested positive for coronavirus. He is now self-isolating himself in Scotland, displaying mild symptoms. 

Boris Johnson

The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and the leader of the Conservative Party since 2019 has tested positive for the virus. He announced his result on Twitter via a video. He also mentioned that he will continue to lead the government’s response through video conferences. He has self-isolated himself at his home. 

Peter Dutton 

Australian Home Affairs Minister, Peter Dutton who is a member of the Australian Liberal Party has tested positive for the virus earlier this March. Upon diagnosis, he was admitted to the hospital.

Nadine Dorries

Nadine Dorries is the United Kingdom’s Health Minister, who has tested positive for the virus. She has self-isolated herself at her home.

Carmen Carlo 

Carmen Carlo is the Deputy Prime Minister of Spain and Minister of the Presidency, Relations with the Cortes and Equality since June 2018. Earlier this March, she tested positive for the virus and has self-isolated herself.

Bento Albuquerque 

Bento Albuquerque is the Brazilian Minister of Mines and Energy. Earlier this March, he was tested positive for the virus.

Rachel Mattews

Rachel Mattews is known for her voice over in the famous Disney movie ‘Frozen 2’ for the character Honeymaren. She took to Instagram to announce that she has tested positive for the virus and is under quarantine.

Charlotte Lawrence

Singer of the revenge anthem ‘Joke’s on You’ from 'Birds of Prey', Charlotte Lawrence has tested positive for the virus. She took to Instagram to announce her results in March. She too has self-isolated.

Joe Exotic

Joe Exotic is an American and an incarcerated criminal and former zoo operator. He is the central figure in the Netflix docuseries ‘Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem, and Madness’. He has tested positive for the virus this March and has been transferred to the prison media center.

Brooke Baldwin

Brooke Baldwin is an American journalist and an anchor at CNN. Earlier this week, she took to Instagram to announce that she has tested positive for the virus.

Mark Blum

Mark Blum was an American actor, who has worked in films such as ‘Desperately Seeking Susan’ and ‘Crocodile Dundee’ among others. The 69-year-old actor passed away on March 26, 2020, due to coronavirus. 

Andrew Jack

Andrew Jack was a British actor who worked on at least 80 motion pictures since 1982. He was famous for his roles in ‘Star Trek’ and ‘Kate & Leopold’. On March 31, 2020, the 76-year-old actor died due to the virus. 

Adam Schlesinger

Adam Schlesinger was an American singer, songwriter, musician and record producer. He won three Emmy Awards, a Grammy Award and the ASCAP Pop Music Award, and was nominated for Academy, Tony as well as Golden Globe Awards. The ‘Radiation Vibe’ singer died on April 1, 2020, at the age of 52 due to coronavirus.

Floyd Cardoz

Floyd Cardoz was the Season 3 winner of ‘Top Chef Master’ and was an acclaimed chef and the man behind renowned NYC restaurants Tabla and Bombay Bread Bar. He died at the age of 59 on March 17, 2020, after being admitted to the hospital due to coronavirus.

Joe Diffie

Famous country singer Joe Diffie, was known for songs ‘Home’ and ‘Prop Me Up Besides the Jukebox’, tested positive for the coronavirus. Unfortunately, he died on March 29, 2020, at the age of 61 due to the virus.
