Pandemic Playlist - Air Guitar Edition!
'Sweet Child of Mine' - Guns N' Roses
Every aspiring guitarist knows this tasty guitar riff instantly, and every single wannabe vocalist has probably tried to sing like Axl Rose at some point. That sweet, chiming guitar intro sears itself into your soul from the moment you hear it, and if that doesn't make you strum along with it instantly, the memorable guitar solo from Slash surely will. This one's a perennial classic from one of the greatest living guitarists on the planet.
'Back in Black' - AC/DC
'Back in Black' is one of the best hard rock songs of all-time, featuring the yelping, snarling rock phenoms AC/DC, whose guitarist Angus Young was fabled for his curled-lip sneer, meme-worthy duck walk, and incendiary guitar skills. Many an amateur guitarist has tried and failed to keep up with the legendary axe-wizard, but you'll definitely be able to stay in sync with him on your trusty air guitar!
'All Along The Watchtower' - Jimi Hendrix
Jimi Hendrix was a force of nature, an alien warlock sent from the future to teach us how to write some funky blues jams. Considered by many to be the greatest guitarist who ever lived, Hendrix's passion and guitar pyrotechnics are on full display here. Even though the song is Bob Dylan's, the great man himself said the song now belonged to Hendrix, considering he made what is probably the definitive version of this masterpiece. So get your bandana on and get ready to pluck with your teeth as well as your fingers!
'Paranoid Android' - Radiohead
Art rock legends Radiohead have made some of the best guitar music on the planet since they first burst onto the scene in the early '90s. The twin-guitar effect of Ed O Brien's trippy modulations and Jonny Greenwood's aggressive guitar attack was both transcendental and revolutionary for its time. The prog-rocky 'Paranoid Android' is up there with some of their finest work to date, and Greenwood's physics-defying guitar solo will leave you dazed and delirious, but in a totally non-COVID-19 kinda way. Let the furious fretting begin!
'Echoes' - Pink Floyd
When it comes to guitar gods, David Gilmour from Pink Floyd comfortably makes the Top 10 list of all-time greats. The sweet-voiced, baby-faced, six-string deity is to psychedelic rock what Henry Ford was to automobiles — he effectively helped spawn a plethora of wannabe string-bending imitators, but none were as remarkable as the genuine article himself. 'Echoes', considered one of Pink Floyd's greatest works, is a spacey tour-de-force from start to finish, and it is sure to get your picking digits working overtime. Enjoy!
