PORTLAND, OREGON: Portland protests against police brutality and racial injustice are gaining momentum with each day. On the night of Saturday, September 26, when protesters and police were present at an agitation site in the city, a person who claimed himself to be a delivery man, was pinned down by the police on the road. The man was riding his bicycle when the police were patrolling with their van and were in action to capture protesters as seen in a viral video. As soon as the purported delivery man's bicycle came near the patrolling van, two officers got off the vehicle and thrashed him on the ground. Later, a crowd of policemen gathered near him as seen in the video. The officers then pinned him down and tied his hands on his back.

A user tweeted the video, "Portland police are once again absolutely out of control."

The man in the video pleaded that he is a delivery man. A protesting woman was also heard saying that he is not an agitator. Despite this, the video shows the officers pinning down the man to the ground. As soon as the video went viral, it caused a furor as many considered the incident as an attack on the innocent. While many lashed at the cops for doing a bad job, others came in the support of the delivery man. Some users on social media even blamed President Donald Trump for the spread of such hatred and brutality. A user wrote: “This ‘delivery man’ just happen in the wrong time and wrong place.”

One lashed at the cops for doing a bad job and said, “Looks more like cops who can’t do their job right and shouldn’t be paid for not doing their job.” Another called out the cops saying: “Props to Portland Police for being completely unhinged, attacking and arresting a delivery guy, really proving that they need to be abolished. He may not have known how he felt about you before, but he does now.” A user wrote against the Portland police: “If only the Portland cops treated certain right-wing gangs the way they treat random delivery guys doing their job & minding their own business.”

Some blamed Trump for the spread of hatred. “These SOBs are disgusting and deserve whatever they get. How can they do that to the poor kid who is trying to make ends meet as an Uber delivery driver? This is too much, and it’s all Trump’s fault. He’s caused all this division and hatred, with cops going wild.” Others came in support of the delivery man. “The bike delivery guy is just trying to make a living as bike riding is still legal in Portland the last time that I checked. The police are itching for targets to attack.” A user bashed those who targeted the delivery man calling him a protester. “Amazing how you make less and less sense the more you ramble. Do continue. Tell me more about how this guy was a rioter posing as a food delivery guy. Oh no, even better: since you're watching all the Twitches, show me the video evidence to support your baseless accusation.”

While many affirm that the man is an Uber Eats driver, it has not been substantiated who he really is. The story is in development and MEA WorldWide (MEAWW) will further update the report. These allegations were made by the Internet and individual organizations, and MEAWW cannot confirm them independently and nor does it support these claims being made on the Internet.
