Kangaroo tortured and killed at McPhillamy Park in Mount Panorama
The inquiry comes in response to a report on March 21, 2023, which stated that the marsupial had been killed at McPhillamy Park in Mount Panorama after being tortured. The park is located at the peak of the hillside, where wildlife is known to gather. A kangaroo's body was found at the site by the responding officers, as per Yahoo News.
Early evidence suggests that a group of men was engaged in the weekend incident, according to police. They are also hoping to speak with a second man, a Caucasian man with red glasses and "white and black striped slide-on sandals," whose picture they have not published.
All native animals are protected in Australia
All native animals in Australia are protected and it's against the law to hurt or interfere with them without permission. Animal welfare organizations are still concerned about numerous assaults on wildlife across the nation, many of which are committed by White men. They have expressed worries that this animal abuse can lead to attacks on humans. Anyone with knowledge about the incident is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 1800 333 000 or the Bathurst detectives at (07) 3333 000. Anonymous reports are possible.
In October 2022, a kangaroo was punched and stamped to death at a border town in New South Wales. Two videos of the incident were uploaded on Snapchat. In the first video, the boy dances around the kangaroo while posing as a boxer. He stomps it to death and punches it. In a second video, the same boy approaches a dying kangaroo and tickles it beneath the chin while saying, "Coochie, coochie coo. Tickle, tickle, tickle”. He gives a girl, who is not seen on the camera, instructions on how to "stomp on it." Before the video concludes, laughter can be heard from the two participants.
