Commerce City crash: Colorado cop and driver dead, Internet wishes officers 'cared when cops kill unarmed people'

COMMERCE CITY, COLORADO: A three-vehicle crash on Friday, October 16 in the Commerce City has left two people dead and one person with life-threatening injuries. The incident that took place at Highway 2 and Turnberry Pkwy has brought Colorado State Patrol into action as they head to investigate the fatal crash involving the death of a cop from the Commerce City Police Department.

As per the State Patrol, the incident happened when a Ford F350 headed south on Colorado 2 and moved to the right side of the road and onto the shoulder before returning back on track on the roadway. The car collided with an unmarked Commerce City Police Department Ford Explorer and a Kia Soul that were bound to go towards North. As per Denver Post, the F350 hit the Explorer head-on and collided with the driver’s side of the Kia.

The tragedy has reportedly killed Commerce City Police Department cop and the Kia driver. Until now, none of them have been identified by the State Patrol. Meanwhile, the driver of the F350 has been transported to the University of Colorado Hospital with serious injuries.

After the incident, Colorado State Patrol tweeted about the crash, “The Colorado State Patrol is investigating a fatal crash in the area of Highway 2 and Turnberry Pkwy in Commerce City. A PIO on the scene and will conduct a press conference on the southeast corner of the area at 08:30 PM.” The police seek the public's help and paid condolences to the victims by releasing a statement. “Our deepest condolences go out to the Commerce City Police Department and the families of both the officer and another victim in this crash. We are seeking information from any witnesses to the crash. Please call 303-239-4501 if you have any information about this crash.”



 



 

Soon the Internet headed to pray for the victims and stand for making the environment safer for police. A user tweeted showing concern for police, “Another officer killed in the line of duty what's going on right now I've talked to a couple of people who are former cops and I told them what's going on right now isn't making it safer for police and it's only making it more unsafe and this is a great example.” Arvada Police tweeted in support of the killed cops, “We are in complete support of the Commerce City Police Department at this tragic time. We thank all the agencies who are helping investigate this crash scene.” A photojournalist tweeted with the images, “Such a sad and tragic night for Commerce City Police as well as all others involved. Law enforcement from all over the metro area are still waiting here on scene to escort the officer’s body to the coroner’s office.” 



 



 



 

A journalist tweeted about a gathering to pay tribute to the killed police officers.“People have started gathering here outside the Adams Co. Coroner’s office, where a procession for a fallen Commerce City Police officer will end.” A user also showered prayers on the deceased, “Rest In Peace my brother/sister. Thank you for your service. May your family, department and dispatch have the strength to grieve as needed.” A user wrote, "wish they cared the same amount when cops kill unarmed people."
