The cast of 'Van Helsing' is getting ready for Season 5 and the Comic-Con 2020 panel saw the main cast talk about the filming, the challenges after resuming production during the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic and how the show is shaping up for the fifth and final season. The cast included Kelly Overton, Jonathan Scarfe, Tricia Helfer, Jennifer Cheon Garcia, Aleks Paunovic, Keeya King, Nicole Munoz with Jonathan Lloyd Walker – showrunner and EPs Chad Oakes and Mike Frislev.

The much-anticipated question was: "Where is Vanessa Helsing?" And the fans were given a quick rewatch of the Season 4 finale episode where Vanessa takes the Dark one and they jump into the abyss. Last we saw, Vanessa (Kelly Overton) was shown to have sacrificed herself to save Jack (Nicole Munoz) and Violet (Keeya King) from the Dark One, Dracula (Tricia Helfer), deep within the Dark Realm. There's been little to no word about her since. While the Dark One has been freed, the only thing we know of Vanessa is that her voice came to offer reassurance to Jack, who is trapped inside a coffin in the Dark Realm.

Talking about the scene, Overton felt it was an intense scene and that it was fun coming face-to-face with the Dark One. "To start a show and to start a character with that scene was a little daunting," Helfer said while Overton said it was an awesome experience. "It was very bittersweet," she added.

In addition, one of the other topics that were covered was how the weapons actually had a real version and a rubber version (and a soft nerf fake looking one). Often the rubber one still stings pretty hard when hit with. It was also revealed that production had resumed a week prior and one of the questions asked was if there was a spin-off planned and when Season 5 could be expected. "We're looking at a fall return, probably by November or December. SYFY is planning to have something on programming by then," said showrunner Jonathan. He also added three episodes were in the can and talking about the spin-off, he teased, "never say never".

However, he also added that an update could be expected only by September. As far as the spin-off goes, only time will tell when and what's in store.

'Comic-Con' is slated between July 22-26.
