Comedian Lisa Lampanelli shouts back at heckler who offered her $100 to shut up
Lisa Lampanelli is not the one you can shut up so easily, and she showed it to her audience on Sunday night.
The comedian was performing at the San Jose City National Civic center over the weekend, and in a bold move, offered one of her viewers a refund for his ticket after he heckled her in the middle of her set.
In a video obtained by TMZ, the 56-year-old is seen telling the individual that she would personally give him his money back because she clearly doesn't "need to work for people." However, the heckler, refusing to listen to any of Lampanelli's requests, shouted back, "I'll give you $100 to shut the f--- up."
Lampanelli, clearly outraged at the individual's response, then slammed back saying, "I'll tear it up, you f---ing idiot, now get the f--- out of here." And if the onlookers at TMZ are anything to go by, it "all went downhill" after that incident.
As per the audience members at the gig, Lampanelli was so triggered by the incident that she blew up at the stage crew, and when she was called the c-word by someone occupying the balcony seats, she completely flipped out and managed to finish only 30 minutes of an hour-long show before storming off in a rage.
The incident got quite a bit of mixed reactions from her fans and followers worldwide. Some people were in support of her walking off the stage, with one fan literally apologizing on behalf of “the disrespectful a*holes in this city.”
On the other hand, a lot of them wondered why Lampanelli got so worked up and had such a volatile reaction. One social media user, who might have present in the audience at the time of the incident, was curious as to why the comedian lost her cool after someone called her a “liar,” although that might not be the reason for her outburst.
Lampanelli, who is widely known as “The Queen of Mean,” is revered for her insult comedy by millions of fans worldwide, so it was not really a surprise for her to get heckled by audience members on her show. The comedian is also a huge advocate for the LGBT community and consistently supports LGBT causes and fundraisers.
The famous comic has even roasted the likes of Donald Trump, the current President of the United States, whom she apparently has close connections with. She previously had appeared on 'Celebrity Apprentice' and even made it to the final four, according to reports.
Speaking about her comedy experiences with the POTUS, she said at the time, “[Trump] was always a gentleman to me. After the roasts, he would hug us thereafter, give us kudos, etc. I just don’t know how he lost his sense of humor between the roasts and the White House. You can’t say anything about him anymore, except for maybe me because I believe he still thinks I’m kidding.”
