LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'Cobra Kai' is prepared for one final dance after Netflix announced 'The Karate Kid' spinoff was getting a sixth and final season soon. Given how popular the show had become, this news does not come as a surprise.

Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz, and Hayden Schlossberg, the series' creators, revealed the information in a letter to fans on Friday. The trio paid respect to the world of 'The Karate Kid', which they all adored as children but could never have envisioned growing up to become a six-season television series. Along with bringing the tales of a bully-turned-hero Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) and misunderstood bully Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) to throngs of original fans, they also served as inspiration for a whole new generation.

'Cobra Kai' on Netflix: When does 'Cobra Kai' Season 5 release and where can you watch it?

The first two seasons of 'Cobra Kai' were YouTube Red productions and not Netflix originals. However, the teen dramedy series migrated to the streaming giant in the summer of 2020, where it received a tremendous popularity surge that made it some of the most reliable material for Netflix. Since then, three more seasons of 'Cobra Kai' have been made available, and with rumors of additional 'Karate Kid' universe content circulating, it appears that Josh Heald and Jon Hurwitz are prepared to bring things to a close.

'Cobra Kai' is one of the biggest shows on the planet and garnered universal acclaim for its epic storytelling and action sequences. The series holds a rating of 94% on the review site Rotten Tomatoes. Season 1 of the show has a perfect rating of 100% while Seasons 4 and 5 currently hold 95% and 98% respectively.

Taking place more than 30 years after the events of the 1984 All Valley Karate Tournament, the series welcomed a long list of new characters featuring Xolo Maridueña, Courtney Henggeler, Tanner Buchanan, Mary Mouser, Jacob Bertrand, Peyton List, Vanessa Rubio, Dallas Dupree Young, Alicia Hannah-Kim, and Gianni DeCenzo. Reappearing again are some familiar faces like Yuji Okumoto, Martin Kove, Thomas Ian Griffith, Elisabeth Shue, Sean Kanan, Robyn Lively, and Tamlyn Tomita, among others.
