CNN's Rick Wilson slammed for wishing Melania gets infected by coronavirus, people say 'd*** suits him more'
Political pundit Rick Wilson is facing a lot of backlash on the internet after he seemingly wished a coronavirus affliction upon the first lady. Wilson posted his ‘wish’ on Twitter after the news broke that Melania Trump will appear in public service announcement (PSA) about the COVID-19 pandemic.
CNN has shared a tweet on its page, which said, “First lady Melania Trump to appear in public health PSAs on the coronavirus.” Wilson, a staunch critic of the Trump government, commented “#BeInfected" to this post.
However, his jibe at the FLOTUS did not go down well with the people as he was slammed for his ‘disgusting’ remark. Republican Paul Gosar replied to the CNN pundit’s tweet and advised him to delete it as “Americans are dying”.
Many joined Gosar on Twitter and started commenting against the 56-year-old pundit. Director Robby Starbuck tweeted: "You’re a really a disgusting person Rick. I know a lot of people have said it but it’s true. You should really start going by the name Dick, it suits you more than the name Rick does... You’ll never let go of your bitterness that Trump won. It’s truly pitiful."
While another user, Kimberly Ross, wrote: "You should never wish that your political opponents get sick. This is obvious to most people. But others are so poisoned by hate..."
Reporter Joe Concha also criticized Wilson for his ‘#BeInfected’ remark as he tweeted, “This is the most insidious & hateful rhetoric of anyone who exists in political punditry. Rick Wilson is wishing Coronavirus on Melania Trump. It doesn’t matter if the wish is aimed at a First Lady, or a doctor, a teacher, a policewoman. It is despicable. He deserves no platform."
However, the ‘Never Trump’ leader later replied to all the haters as he responded: “ANYONE who thought I was wishing COVID on Melania is fuckwit. You know full well it was a riff on "BeBest" and it's utter failure in the face of her husband's continued role as Global Troll in Chief and National Bully. That said, fap to your fake-ass outrage all you like."
Meanwhile, Melania has posted the PSA about COVID-19. In the one-minute-long video, filmed inside the White House, Melania has offered tips on ways people can stay connected and reminds them that we are all in this together.
“Today I want to speak with you about coronavirus and what it means for you and your family. While changes need to be made now, this is not how we will live forever. Our children will return to school, people will return to work, and we will gather at the places of worship, concerts and sporting events again.
“I urge you to stay connected to family and loved ones through video chats, phone calls, social media, and other safe technologies. Stay safe. And remember while many of us are apart, we are all in this together,” the FLOTUS said in her message.
It has been said that the PSA will also be broadcast during air time which is donated by the networks and other entities.
