CNN's Don Lemon has attacked President Donald Trump after the latter retweeted an article linking his predecessor Obama to the so-called "Russian hoax".

The CNN journalist addressed Trump during a broadcast on May 3, saying his decision to retweet a "conspiracy theory" about Obama was “a new low from a president who goes low all the time.”

Lemon then proceeded to stare at the camera and addressed the president directly, listing all the ways he felt Obama outshined Trump.

“What is it about President Obama that really gets under your skin?” he asked calmly and dryly, though he does have some ideas. “Is it because he’s smarter than you? Better educated? Made it on his own—didn’t need Daddy’s help? Wife is more accomplished? Better looking? I don’t know, what is it? What is it about him? That he’s a Black man that’s accomplished, became president? That he punked you on the whole birth certificate thing? What is it about him? Just wondering.”

During the segment, Lemon also accused the president of attempting to distract Americans from the ongoing Covid-19 crisis.

“In a time when we need leadership, when we need compassion, this is the crap that you’re peddling?” Lemon asked. “Conspiracy theories?”

We can most certainly expect a response from Trump, who is known to get even with his critics (especially in news media).

Most recently, he called MSNBC reporter Brian Williams "dumb as hell" after the journalist mocked him for saying that the coronavirus is "going away."

Trump brought up Williams' past apology for reporting a false version of his experience while covering the war on terror in the Middle East.

The president tweeted that Williams "wouldn’t know the truth if it was nailed to his wooden forehead," before posting footage containing news coverage of Williams' suspension from NBC in February 2015 due to the reportage.

"Remember when he lied about his bravery in a helicopter? Totally made-up story. He’s a true dummy who was thrown off Network News like a dog. Stay tuned!" Trump tweeted.

And in yet another tweet, Trump likened the MSNBC anchor to CNN's Lemon, whom he has frequently attacked on Twitter over his intelligence or lack of it.

"I must admit that Lyin’ Brian Williams is, while dumber than hell, quite a bit smarter than Fake News @CNN 'anchorman' Don Lemon, the 'dumbest man on television'. Then you have Psycho Joe 'What Ever Happened To Your Girlfriend?' Scarborough, another of the low I.Q. individuals!" he tweeted.

Trump also attacked Lemon following a Democratic presidential debate in July 2019, once again declaring him “the dumbest man on television” over a question the CNN host asked during the debate.

"CNN’s Don Lemon, the dumbest man on television, insinuated last night while asking a debate ‘question’ that I was a racist, when in fact I am ‘the least racist person in the world.’ Perhaps someone should explain to Don that he is supposed to be neutral, unbiased & fair, or is he too dumb (stupid} to understand that,” Trump tweeted.

"No wonder CNN’s ratings (MSNBC’s also) have gone down the tubes — and will stay there until they bring credibility back to the newsroom," the president added. "Don’t hold your breath!"
