Madame President Amanda Gorman 2036: CNN host Anderson Cooper agrees with Hillary Clinton’s suggestion
CNN host Anderson Cooper believes poet Amanda Gorman has the potential to become the president of America. He agreed with Hillary Clinton, who reportedly suggested the youngest poet read at the inauguration to run for the Office in 2036 when she will be mature enough to handle the responsibilities. Gorman from Los Angeles read out her poem - ‘The Hill We Climb’ - for the inauguration ceremony of Joe Biden on Wednesday morning, January 20.
The Sun reported that the TV host who interviewed Gorman was visibly impressed with the 22-year-old talent. During the conversation, she disclosed her mantra to prepare herself for the special day. “Whenever I perform — and I definitely did it this time — I close my eyes and I say ‘I'm the daughter of Black writers. We're descended from freedom fighters who broke their chains and changed the world. They call me,” Gorman told CNN. The interview saw Cooper losing his words while speaking with the young lady. However, he said, “Hmm… Wow … you are awesome. I am so transfixed.”
The 53-year-old journalist also asked Gorman about her meeting with Hillary, who had suggested her to lead the country in the future. Cooper seemed to be convinced by the former United States Secretary of State’s idea as he remarked, “President Gorman has a nice ring to it". To which, Gorman responded, “Yes it does, Madame President Gorman, I like the sound of it.” Cooper added, “I think a lot of people feel that way today. It is just so thrilling to see such a bright talent burst like a supernova, so thank you.”
Reports have said that Gorman was approached by the inauguration committee after Jill Biden heard her at the Library of Congress. She revealed that though no specific instruction was given to her on what to write for the historic day, she was encouraged to give importance to unity and hope over “denigrating anyone” or declaring “ding, dong, the witch is dead”. “The poem isn’t blind. [January 6] gave me a second wave of energy to finish the poem. It isn’t turning your back to the evidence of discord and division,” Gorman was quoted by AP News in reference to the January 6 Capitol building deadly protests that took the lives of five people, including a police officer.
Many on Twitter also praised the young woman. “@TheAmandaGorman 's dreams of being President are one step closer to realization.
