Cleveland cop filmed himself urinating on 12-year-old girl at school bus stop after she refused his offer of lift, say prosecutors
EUCLID, OHIO: A Cleveland police officer has been accused of trying to kidnap a 12-year-old girl who was waiting for her school bus, and then urinating on her and filming the act when he failed.
The alleged incident unfolded last Friday, August 16, when Patrol Officer Solomon Nhiwatiwa, 34, was driving past Euclid Avenue in Euclid, a suburb of Cleveland, and saw the victim sitting on a sidewalk waiting to be picked up by a school bus, according to WKYC.
Nhiwatiwa is said to have driven past her with his windows rolled down and asked her if she needed a ride. When she refused, he drove off, but returned a minute later and parked his vehicle near the minor.
Authorities said he approached the 12-year-old, exposed his genitals, and began to urinate on her, all the while filming the incident on his phone. He then drove off again.
Cleveland.com reported that, later, another resident of the area called to report that a man was acting strange and peeking into people's cars.
Detectives pieced together the identity of the culprit after the girl's mother filed a complaint with the Euclid Police when she learned about the horrifying incident.
The 34-year-old turned himself in this past Tuesday, August 20.
Nhiwatiwa was subsequently indicted by a grand jury on charges of attempted kidnapping (with sexual motivation specification), pandering obscenity involving a minor, disseminating material harmful to juveniles, assault, endangering children, criminal child enticement, attempted interference with custody, and public indecency.
The 34-year-old, who was first hired as a police officer in 2014 and worked most recently in the city's third district, has been suspended without pay until the case is concluded, with
Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Michael O'Malley promised that there will be justice."These actions are impossible to comprehend," O'Malley said. "My office will hold him accountable and ensure he never wears the badge of a police officer again."
The victim's mother, who did not wish to be named, told WKYC, "We raise our children and we do the best we can and that's what we do as moms, if you're a mom you know."
She also said she would support and pray for the officer and that she wanted to go see him. "I got to go see him, I'm going to see the procedures of what to do to go see him," she revealed.
Nhiwatiwa is scheduled to be arraigned on his charges on Monday, August 26, at 8:30 am.
Cleveland Police Patrolmen’s Association Jeff Follmer declined to comment on the case.
