Chuck Schumer slammed over Senate trip to Israel as pro-Palestine protestors picket in front of his NYC home
BROOKLYN, NEW YORK: Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer was castigated online and offline following his decision to lead a Senate trip to Israel in solidarity with Israel amid the country's ongoing conflict with the militant group Hamas.
Moreover, on Friday, October 13, dozens of protesters were arrested in Brooklyn after observing a sit-in blocking traffic and picketing in front of Schumer's home, as per Daily Trust.
The mass protest, called by an organization named "Jewish Voice for Peace," apparently pleaded with the elected officials to "stop genocide against Palestinians in Gaza," and demanded the US stop providing aid to Israel.
As per Daily Mail's report, hundreds of people gathered at the Grand Army Plaza before making a short procession to Schumer’s Park Slope residence. They were seen holding posters and placards where slogans like "Zionism is terrorism" and "End Israeli apartheid" were apparently written.
Another sign read, "Jews say stop genocide against Palestinians."
While the NYPD didn't disclose the exact number of people taken into custody, dozens of picketers were said to have been arrested over the weekend, including two elected officials, rabbis, and descendants of Holocaust survivors.

Chuck Schumer to lead a Senate trip to Israel
The Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer will be leading a group of Senators on a trip to Israel to show their solidarity with the war-torn nation. His visit will follow that of Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin.
While it is not yet known how many Senators will be joining him on the trip, the trip aims to "discuss what resources the United States can provide to support Israel on all fronts."
Schumer’s spokesperson, Angelo Roefaro, said, "Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, the highest-ranking Jewish elected official in the United States history, will be leading a bipartisan [congressional delegation] to Israel this weekend to show the United States’ unwavering support for Israel," as per New York Post.
He continues, "There, Leader Schumer will meet with the new unity government, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Benny Gantz, as well as President Isaac Herzog. Sen. Schumer will discuss what resources the United States can provide to support Israel on all fronts."
Internet fumes over Chuck Schumer's decision to lead a Senate trip to Israel
Netizens did not welcome Chuck Schumer's decision to make the journey to Israel and condemned the Majority Leader in strong words on social media, especially X (formerly Twitter).
One said, "Mhmmm, it's interesting he can visit when it's a war zone," while another commented, "Is he bringing the squad along for the trip."
"Schumer is always there for a photo opportunity. Maybe he can explain gun violence to Hamas," remarked a person.
A user inquired, "Forgot he pledged an oath to the us constitution?"
"Is their airspace even open yet for that kind of trip? Last I heard people were still stranded," said one more criticizing his trip.
Another expressed, "FOR WHAT??????? Another taxpayer funded excursion. Maybe you can just stay in NY and help the Mayor diffuse the hate."
